Thumbs down "Credit crunch" on domaining - any experiences...

Has anyone noted a reduction in price or quantity of domain names sold in the current economy?

Quiet summer for us - was that same for everyone?

Yah - very quiet. The bounceback is slow and painful thanks to this economy.

Yep, the market has been terrible since April. Hopefully it'll turn around soon.

last september things started imho, or stopped

having said that, getting lots of private enquiries and also shifted quite a few .uk

things will pick up as there are many cheap deals around. there is still no better area to invest in. lets face it, can u think of any other area? real estate in time when things bottom out but for the minimal investment and future this is best. maybe after this quagmire people, wall street, ex traders, joe public etc will all start waking up and come over to our 'dark side' .
they've took long enough

Arnie - Good to hear that you are still doing ok. I think that domains are relatively safe in comparison to sub prime loans... although of course, that is not saying much...

Prices are well down (50% or more in most categories), I think the amount of sales going through is quite high.

Yes, I'd pick December 2007 as the peak of this past domain cycle...

A 'good price' for a domain today, is a price you can live with, and accept - and, has little resemblance to what was a 'good price', say, last December.

I agree with arnie....One silver lining in all this may well turn out to be that more end users will need to re-think their marketing, and positioning, to survive....And, a lot more of them may well pay a lot more attention to internet & online opportunities for their businesses.

...That could put the focus squarely onto the importance of the right domain(s) for their business...

And that would be very good for us...

.

Yeah I'd say so, as a general rule the domain industry follows the rest of the economy very closely.
