FixedLoans is a nice one and should be an interesting one to watch, he just paid 10k for it and its going up for $1 no reserve
That must take nerves of steel and some Big Balls
Hope it works out well for them

the pings are ok, but i can't access it here.
it says on mozilla tab "loading..." like it's taken too long.

Totally agree! Huge Balls on that guy!! I've done it with maybe a $2k domain, but never more than that.

Today at Bido was very emotional and a wild ride! We had a wonderful domain up for auction, fixedloans.com, and we also released a new feature, the chatroom. The combination of the influx of new members who came to bid on the FixedLoans.com auction combined with the new chatroom feature was what caused the site to crash.
Our webserver crashed entirely during the FixedLoans.com auction, shortly after 2:00 but still while bidding was taking place. To be fair to everyone, we're relisting the FixedLoans.com auction to run TOMORROW, August 20th at 1PM EST, and we're moving the auction previously scheduled to run tomorrow to September 2nd, 2008. All other auctions remain unchanged.
That being said, we owe the bidders a SORRY and can only hope you understand at times we cannot plan for the unexpected. As newcomers to the auction world, we're always learning and running into new experiences. Especially with the rate we add and roll out new features, some are bound to cause problems.
For those of you that did bid on the auction, we hope you forgive us and our technology and please participate when the auction is relisted. As they say, to error is human to forgive is divine. We appreciate your support and understanding and look forward to working with you on future auctions!
Thanks,
The Bido.com Team

hope it works out for him but i doubt it will
in any case, bido guarantee up to a certain amount i think, so they cover the loss
wrong venue for a good name like that, bido seem to deal in average names that get 2k - 5k from what i've seen

No, Bido removed that minimum guaranteed price a while ago, which means that it's now very risky for sellers as it's a no-reserve auction starting at just $1.

When their site is up again, check their auction archive :
http://www.bido.com/AuctionArchive
You'll see that they've sold very few names in the 2k-5k price range.
Most ended in the $xx-$xxx price range, with several as low as $11.
Moreover, domains on auction at Bido must be registered at Moniker, which means additional transfer fees for sellers who don't register their names there.

michaeldotcom that list is showing as empty for m, is it only available to members?
To be honest is it even worth using such a site for a domain that may only fetch $11. So much for the premium hand picked domains.

According to Sahar's blog, Bido has closed down (at least for now). That's probably why they emptied this list which listed all the previous auctions.
Most of them were $xx or $xxx with only a few slightly higher.
They're closing down because of the major technical problems they're having, but I guess they may be reviewing their business model too.
I don't see them making any money if they're only selling one domain per day at such relatively low prices.

It's not about how many domains you are selling but how many concurent connections you are getting per second.
Victim of success (and it's a good sign).

Just do the math to find a ballpark for Commission income pa.
Assuming av auction price = $500 (generous), commiss % = 8%
Commish = $500 x 8% x 365 days
= $14,600 pa
= better working in McDonalds
(and that's IF all the domains are from external sources - not like the mostly previous "house listings"
(** Basically BIDO is a venue to offload the founders' domains that they don't want **))
Business model Sucks balls.
No wonder Ron J left this sinking ship
Ever since they withdrew the guaranteed floor price, the whole thing lost whatever USP it had and became just another auction site among the many
The best thing about it was reading the comments from the so-called "experts" (johnny-come-latelys trading under crappy domain names).
RIP!

Its funny how so many people are giving "bido" the benefit of the doubt. Would be any other joe or even one of the real significant/historical players (snapnames, namejet,...) and people would be all over them.
