How do you read / open a Zone file???

I recently downloaded a .net zone file and its like 900 MB.
When i went ahead and tried opening it in notepad, it gave me an error.
Tried with wordpad and it gave me a virtual memory error, which nearly stalled my puter.

I was just wondering how does one read a zone file; is there a line editor/reader of the sorts? And also if u have scripted / programmed to read a zone file, how do you open it all; all at once or is there a line read technique again?

Thanks,
Kross.

The best would be to write a script for that purpose.
Analyze the first 100 lines for example and you will easily understand the format. Then you can begin parsing.

Thanks Kath,
Yes your right it makes more sense to read a line at a time and then filter it wrt your search parameter / mask i guess.

I tried a large txt file reader but 26+ million lines is helluva lot without a search filter script of some kind

Thanks again,
Kross.

With DRT, you can split up the files into smaller ones as well.
