subdomains creation


how are subdomains created. i notice on cpanel there is management for subdomains but i like to know
the best way and fusss free way to create them!!

how many are permited?would clutter up the main domain or add on to its usefulness or PR ranking??

The number of subdomains you can have depends on how much your host has allotted to you. As for page rank, the page rank for your subdomain should not affect your root domain I believe.

In the site management tools section, click on ADD ON DOMAINS.
Look down the far left list you will see Sub Domains.
Click on that. I think it is pretty clear from there.

thanks. if the host has fantatisco is provided, will the subdomains have these same functions? ie ability for the scripts to be auto loaded?

Yes. Usually you'd install a script into a subdomain (ex. forum.yourdomain.com) or top directory (ex. yourdomain.com/forum). Subdomains usually have a much lower or no google page rank as opposed to the main page. When google searches through your site they look for content so if anything a subdomain could help you.

so which is better? installing script in subdomain or top directory/forum?

depends on what it was for, I only use subdomains if it is for clearly defined parts of the site for example a forum etc, if it was for a couple of standard pages on your site there really isnt much point.

Different control panels have different methods for the user to create subdomains for example the old version of Plesk all you did was create a folder called subdomains in your root directory and any folder in that was a subdomain (after an hour) but that is not done in the new version which now is done via the control panel.
