DomainFest Sells Over $2.3 million In Auction Finale!

My blog crashed several of times due to the large surge of visitors! Sorry guys! Working on getting it fixed so it never happens again.

DomainFest has just concluded the finale auction of the conference. They sold over $2,329,000 in domain sales on auction today. A grand total of over $3,148,000 for both days of the auction. (Final auction results will be released by DomainFest, this is a rough estimate, but fairly accurate )
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/422728-domainfest-sells-over-2-230-000-a.html

The top names sold were; porn.net $400,000, bookmarks.com $300,000 photograph.com $195,000, females.com $90,000, intimate.com $80,000

You can check out the full details on http://simplygeo.com/2008/01/23/doma...-simplygeocom/

The extended auction is still left and we will see how that goes.

Please leave comments here and on the blog for others to read and interact.

Thank you in advance for you interaction. This was exciting! Please feel free to subscribe to my RSS, thanks!

IMO, the auction is not that successful, but as the 1st live auction by snapnames deserves the respect! congrats to all buyers and sellers.

I sold tube.mobi (though don't know if the online bidder would pay) but the price is very near the 2 highest offers I have received so far. But anyway, I can invest on other decent names.

Thanks for the articles. Great job

I think no.org going for $37,500 was a steal. It is a great name for lots of organizations.

Lightbulb ^ Agree.

Awesome, Steve ... some of these sales figures today in general and at first blush seem a bit lower than they should be, IMHO.

I think Politics.net at $35,000 is juicy! Some folks that I know here in NH - fresh off the Primary - would eat that up for much more than that, I'd be willing to bet.
Thanks much.

Thank you guys.

It was fun, but very frustrating when my blog crashed 3 times.

The auction was a success if you think about the recession currently going on.

Just because tube.mobi did not do better that you expected, does not mean it was not a healthy auction. There were alot of great .com names that did not sell because of the credit crunch going on right now in the economy.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=422728

approve.com
authorize.com
dude.com
track.com
natural.com

Either way, this was great for the domain industry and will continue to gain steam into the year with the traffic expo next month.

Good luck to all of you and thanks for visiting the SimplyGeo.com blog.

Godspeed!

No, no, no, mate, you misunderstood my words It has nothing relates to tube.mobi sold price. It is a bit lower than I thought, but that's the reflection of existing .mobi market.

It is a healthy auction, I mean it should be more successful because many decent .com domains didn't sell. I believe there were many other high quality names with good reserve price but snapnames let them go. In auction, the reserves are too high, and the increasement is too high to bidders.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=422728

Anyway, I am glad to be part of the auction.

Thanks, Jeff, that depends on how bidder does and how snapnames handle the payment from online bidders

Oh, sorry, thought you were a little upset over the sale. Either way, that is a nice sale, will allow you to reinvest.

Congrats! I totally agree with you. Alot of great names did not sell. Which makes you wonder if the top bidders were even in the room.

They were probally hung over from last night! =) Slept in...

Doing some research, on why my blog crashed.

Looks like someon deliberately crashed my site using the following domain puzzlespot.com as search term to crash my site and keep it from working properly.

I am going to see if I can't discover the ip address.

Doing further research. This is crazy, why would someone be a jerk and crash my site?

yup someone used a bot on me with about 6 different IPS. Searched every one of my pages 2 seconds apart. That is fast, causing the denial of service.

A malicious attack. Why do we have people like this. Try and do something nice, and they do this.

ANyway, is there anyway to stop this kind of activity from occuring in the future?

Thank you for your assistance.
