![]() ![]() ![]() | Why isn't there a market indicator? I can see the price fluctuations on all these boards as of course the whole industry does much better than I do. As a recent example, the recent uptick in three-char dot-com prices. What would be interesting would be a market where people would commit similar to what they do in the NP$ Exchange, with Buy/Sell bids. Only instead of specific domains - you're talking specific attributes. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/41038-why-isnt-there-a-market-indicator.html For example, if I said I had a three char dot com with 8 or more months left, how much would you bid? Or, what if it was a three letter dot com? A two letter? A two number? Or a four letter dictionary word? I realize that not enough people would be interest enough in it for something like this to come into existence in order to create a "base market value" for domains with specific criteria that would fluctuate with time.. But at least this way it would be a valuation based on something someone would actually pay and not some phony certificate from an automated script. But I can honestly say I've noticed that ANY three-char .com is worth low double digits now. When I priced my batch for $7.50, they flew. I sold one on Afternic for $12 and my auction for another is at $15. Yet a few months ago I couldn't give them away... Sorry for the long boring nonsensical post... Just had some thoughts to get off my chest. Hence posting in Domain Name Discussion instead of BUY or SELL, lol.. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think thats a great idea, in principle. There could be a 'sticky' post at the top of the 'Domains Wanted' section where serious buyers can put in bid/sell price for the 'relatively' easy to price names. The top post being updated as prices roll in. These would be: 2 character .orgs /nets/ coms 2 letter or Number names 3 letter or number names. The prices would get closer as individuals get more motivated. It can be used for info but also as a Market Making dealing price. It gets a bit complicated as you get other pricing variables within them such as the quality of letters and letter/char or char/letter combinations. Also, those wishing to sell a name may have to specify the actual name as it would have to be one they currently hold obviously. Any listings would have to be considered firm for reasons of integrity. Listers could specify a period of time that the prices are good for. All in all , its a bit of a logistic nightmare but probably easier to implement than the Investment Club idea. Anyway here are my prices if anybody is interested. Firm until August 10th (Hols). Feel free to close the prices up. ![]() ![]() ![]() | Minimum Bar
As far as market making goes, I really don't think that can be done with domain names based on their length alone. Domain names are almost all unique and are worth as much as the end user is willing to pay. Not too many 3 letter dot coms are worth exactly the same amount and I would venture to say that no 2 letter dot coms are worth the same. I see one very real possibility here. We could agree upon what a minimum reseller liquidation value is for 2/3 letter / number domains. I don't think we should post what we are willing to sell them for because there are already tons of sales outlets and most buyers will want to sell to end users at high rates. I just think it would be nice if there was a place that we could post what we are willing to buy them at and the quantity that we are willing to buy. 2 letter dot coms are so rare that I would say none of them are worth the same amount. I would say that a 3 letter dot com SHOULD NEVER sell for less than $700. I would probably buy at this price. I doubt anyone would even offer me one for that though... Still, if I received an offer, I would want to run a Google search to identify how I could market it. It would be nice to see an accurate min. number based upon 100's of buyers willingness to buy. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=41038 It would add more validity to the value of domain names.
