Just would like to share with everyone.

Dear NameCheap.com client,

In April 2007, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) approved certain domain registries to increase their prices. Domain registries are the private companies which manage the registration, technical operations, and control the allocation policies of the TLD's for which they are responsible.

Domain registries VeriSign(.com, .net tld's), Afilias(.info tld), Neulevel(.biz tld) and Public Interest Registry(.org tld) applied for and received price increases and have announced they will be raising their wholesale prices to all registrars including us.

In light of that decision, NameCheap.com will be adjusting its pricing on Sunday, October 14, 2007 as follows:

.com domain renewals, transfers and new registrations: Old pricing $8.88, new pricing $9.29 per year
.net domain renewals, transfers and new registrations: Old pricing $8.88, new pricing $9.29 per year
.org domain renewals, transfers and new registrations: Old pricing $8.88, new pricing $9.29 per year
.info domain renewals, transfers and new registrations: Old pricing $8.88, new pricing $9.29 per year
.biz domain renewals, transfers and new registrations: Old pricing $8.88, new pricing $9.29 per year

Historically, NameCheap.com has always been averse to adjusting its prices. As these cost increases are being dictated and charged to us by the registries, we are obligated to comply.

Ok, Due to great public demand here is an unadvertised coupon valid at Namecheap until 10/14/07-- USFESTIVAL1982. This code applies to renewals and reactivations on the .org/.com/.us/.info/.biz/.net for $7.95. It also includes whoisgaurd subscriptions for $1.25 for the one and tw0 paks and 5 bux for the 5 pak. Super deals.

It's inevitable. All registrars will need to raise their prices because the wholesale price will rise 7%. So renew or transfer your domains, fast. I've spent $1500 in the last few days, transferring and renewing my best ones for 5 years.

There is going to be a mad rush I'm sure over the next few weeks, well namecheap are not looking so cheap anymore...

You have to remember though, Namecheap.com are a reseller so obviously it is harder for them to compete price wise with the bigger corporates and they still remain "AD FREE" which is a big plus IMO and worth supporting.

ps. they dont bombard the upsells either, Shhhh! thats a secret.
