Am I being had?

Someone sold me a script, and I asked if they had a domain for it when they were planning on developing. They replied with:

No. But i can get you a nice domain for $100.00. Very very nice domain.

It's about to drop, and they want $100 from me for it. But they won't tell me what the domain is till I pay for it. Personally I think this is completely stupid and I'm not falling for some trick. I can't even get a refund if I don't like it.

Then I asked why I just can't pay them reg fee, then they reg it and tell me what it is. They said:

Because when i sale most of my items no one knows what they are unless there interested, then espcialy if it's a domain, it wont set a trend and it wont give the domain unwanted traffic

Which to me again sounds stupid and makes no sense.

Can someone explain to me what I am missing.

Thanks.

He seems to just be a scammer. A "nice name" can mean anything at all. Heck, "i9jpjkjc4f.com" could be seen as nice to some (probably not, although it could mean something to someone ), however without knowing any other details, paying $100 is just stupid.

Just pick a name that you think would suit the site/script, and then use that. Simple enough

It's stupid to say "I have a nice domain - pay me $100 for it please". There's no point or need to do that. Just ignore him, and reg a domain you like.

i'd ignore it, why even bother, yes it could be a good name but theres a 95% chance that your being had, get a domain you like, alot of namepro users are selling domains everyday, just check out the for sale forum.

Really? Cool! I'll trade you it for my "super super" nice domain if you want? My domain is better than yours, so it makes sense (for you) to trade me. Yeah?

Does it feel like a scam to you? Something smells fishy to me, and I think everyone else can smell it do. Personally, I would walk away and find my own "very nice" domain.

and heres a scammer now!

actually i was just messing around in my above post- yes it is absurd to ask someone to buy a name before they know what it is-
the only thing i have seen even remotely close is when you buy a drop list- you pay for names but you have no idea what is on it- you are paying for a certain amount of dropping names to choose from-
luck of the draw, i find my own
