Question What are my chances ...

I have secured the domain name of liable.net

It cost me a decent wack of money in a backorder auction at pool.com

I have already receieved an invitation from greatdomains.com to list this domain for $12,000 and a reserve of $6,000

What are my chances (in your opinion) of actually getting anywhere near either of these two prices ?

Thanks,
Stephen.

Not likely

only 845 for the term liable.

Liable.com could go for that though.

By "invitation", did they seek you out shortly after your successful securing of the domain name at Pool?
How much was the "decent wack" of money in backorder to secure the domain name, if you can share?
Thanks, and will follow-up.

Okie ... thanks for the clarification, DomainCat.
Hopefully you can understand why I asked those questions ... in the context of your overall question(s).

I'd peg the domain name in the vicinity you paid for it, +/+ depending on the likelihood of a (wholesale) "Quick Sale", IMHO. I, too, think it would be unlikely at the levels mentioned ... but this should not deter YOU (do not wait for any offers from/through GD's) from seeking interest from relevant End user's, in my view. Work those potential "leads" for maximum valuations!

All the best.

You see this is a perfect example of my problem with the domain name industry.

Here we have one person suggesting a name is worth $150 give or take, another says $845 and a website/company who is apparently a long time player and well know in the industry says $12,000

It really is the wild west in my opinion

Errr ... who said $845 (dollars)?!?

And, the numbers you're getting from GD's are "Asking prices" only.

I'll be back.
Thanks.

845 by Nametower - but now that you have pointed it out, he must have been talking about search engine rankings or something (can you say 'newbie')

So what does 845 mean ?

Google returns 8,070,000 results for liable does this mean anything ?.

And why would anyone care about Overture or Yahoo rankings when Google dominates so much ?

Yep, I'm pretty sure NT was referring to Overture with that "845".
The term was "searched for" 845 times last month at Overture.
That's good Google search results ... but, again, it will be up to you to locate the most relevant End user "leads" and work on the sale here, IMHO.
Overture, Google, Yahoo, among others all can be helpful to a domainer in both approximating valuations, as well as in locating potential End user's, as mentioned.
GD's is widely know to overestimate "Asking prices" ... and it's highly unlikely that yours will sell there, here, anywhere for those amounts/range (being in the ".NET" being one factor)., in my view. Not so "wild west" in this overal context now, I hope.
Take care for now.
