Wild West Domains. Godaddy Resellers...Good?

Has anyone done the Wild West resellers program from Godaddy. I see many websites up with this program. Its basicaly a godaddy site custom made to your specs and the domain name you run under it.

Anyone here done it and if so how good is the money? Looks nice but not sure how many people would get domains from a company they never heard about.....

Unless you have the money to build a custom site, pay for advertising via google adwords etc, your better off staying away from it. I'm learning this now after two months and only a couple sales. Would eventually like to put more into it but have other projects I'm working on that could bring in alot more revenue then a reseller site imho. I'm not giving up yet though, why have one website when you can have 10 or more? What really hurts is godaddy always undercuts their own resellers prices and on top of that their coupon codes. Their reseller program wont last long imho once people start spreading that word around to people like you /us.

Wait for nRnF to post, his targetdomain.com does well, and has worked with a lot of NP'ers in setting up their own WWD. If I remember correctly, -RJ- has a WWD reseller that has done well also. nRnF also sometimes has NamePros member specials,

If he doesn't see this thread soon, I doubt he'd mind a PM requesting help/info.

I looked into this program last fall and heard GoDaddy sends your users mail advertising their prices -- competing with your customers that are hard to come by in this industry.

Cancer Survivorship
this is my second time with them as I let it drop after a year with them before, will evaluate things in a year and make my decision if I stick it out with them this time or not, I think if you have websites targeting domain or hosting topics then you have hot leads which will make your sales quicker and possibly you can do well in a shorter time frame, if your just trying to run it on it's own with no other sites feeding it traffic then you need to spend money on advertising and probably set a longer goal of breaking even at say 1-2 years depending on your advertising budget, mine is going decent so far so I'm pretty sure it will stick around, I pretty much have the prices down to the low end on the site and I have the reseller plans marked to the minimum as well as my goal for the first year or 2 is to just get customers and resellers and if it breaks even I'm happy, wildwest is probably the easiest as you just pay a yearly fee and they handle all billing, support, hosting etc... if you let them and it requires no pre funding of purchases, I also have an enom reseller which works fine but you need to deposit money before your customers can buy anything so I guess it's a personal choice if you wish to prefund and not pay a yearly fee or pay a yearly fee and not have to prefund your purchases, I use the wildwest reseller for public and I use the enom reseller for my own domains and some clients domains, other programs out there as well so you have to compare them and decide what works best for you.

Push Problem

One problem these sites have is they cannot push a name to a Godaddy acct.

Your reseller acct is looked at by Godaddy as a very seperate company.

So - someone who owns a domain name at your site can only push to another user of your system.

wild west is a seperate company and a seperate registrar so for a domainer I can see that being a pain not being able to push between the 2, but if you were able to do a free push to godaddy a reseller would probably lose half of their customers so I'm actually glad it's a seperate deal because then if someone was looking to sell a domain from wildwest they would tell the buyer to sign up for a free account to get the free push and quite of few of those new customers end up buying more stuff making more dough for the reseller, so from a reseller level it's a good thing you can't push out to goaddy.

Why i dont like about WWD is that Godaddy tries to compete with their resellers through their pricing.

OK, Allen here we go ....
I will try to answer several of FAQ...

Q: Is it difficult to start a domain reseller ?
A: Starting a reseller is relatively easy, reach a
break eaven is difficult[list].
Remember the domain biz has become highly competitive,
and you will only earn small margins.
Hence, you will need lots of customers (=traffic).
As per rough estimation with WWD you need a
purchase each 3rd day to break eaven.

Q: Is the WWD reseller program sutable for me ?
A: If you are planning to resell domain names to wide public - YES
- Lots of different product offerings.
- Very nice "turnkey" storefront
- Lots of customizing options.
- This is a great option if you have several 100s domains
yourself and you look for cheaper reg prices paired with
the ability to sell domain registration & related services.
If you are planning to open your reseller basically
for domain trading plus some reselling - NO (Enom is recomended)
- This is simply due to, that you can't receive pushes
from any other WWD/GD reseller account.
Attention: This is also a advantage, as if you or
any of your customers pushes a domain it will remain
under your commision structure.
If you just look for better pricing structure for you own domains
forget starting a reseller and PM me for a free discount account
at www.TargetDomain.com at reseller/wholesale rates.

Q: I always hear that GD/WWD support is horrible.
A: Difficult question, let me answer this between the lines.
If the farmer can't swim, he says its the fault of his trunks.
Got that ?
GD has millions of wide public non domainer customers.
Most are real noobs (or boobs). Its difficult for someone not used to
domain CPs with lots of options to find his way through.
Hence more complains arrise.

Q: Which WWD programm is suitable: Basic or Pro ?
A: Don't waste your time with the basic program,
you won't reach the buy prices you will need
within the strong cometition in the market.
Besides the prices there is also a diffrence
in the bonus packages.

Q: What about the WWD API ?
A: There are advantages and disadvantages of the API
Advantage:
- 100% customizable and SEO/SE friendly
Disadvantage:
- You are 100% self responsable for site setup & updates.
- You must run several customer support functions yourself.
(At a Basic/Pro plan you only have to promote your service)

Q: What is a Super Reseller ?
A: A Super Reseller is basically a PRO account, that can resell
additionally Basic & Pro accounts under their comission structure.
PS:
Unlikely with other reseller programs a WWD Super Reseller
has no influence in the pricing or service structure of his
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=308092
subresellers. So don't be afraid to purchase through a Super Reseller.

Q: Is there a advantage of beeing a Super Reseller ?
A: Yes & No
It is unlikely, that as a Super Reseller you will sell much
reseller accounts (This is no buisiness nowadays), and nearly
all new WWD resellers are sold through WWD itself.
Independent of the number of subaccounts you have, it is needed,
that there is a large number of sales within the subacounts to
make some money for you.
Besides the sales comissions you receive through your subresellers
there are some small other advantages that you benefit from,
As example "domain parking" comission.
Bottom line is: If you are not shure, that besides your normal
sales you will be able to sell several reseller accounts a year
it is a waste of time and money. (Sounds easy, but is real hard)

Q: Is it true that GD undercuts the WWD reseller pricing ?
A: Yes, in some cases but this depends on the products, and is not
really a big problem. Remember you want to sell the wide public,
and not to domaineers.

Q: OK I want to go with WWD, where to order ?
A: You can order directly at WWD, but if you go for the Basic/Pro program
you can/should order at a Super Reseller.
It makes absolutely no difference for you, as the margin that would
go 100% to WWD is then split between WWD and the Super Reseller.
Here is a super reseller
http://reseller.targetdomain.com

Q: Is there any extra I can obtain when I want to go for a Basic/Pro plan ?
A: www.TargetDomain.com offers to selected startups a partially refund
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=308092
of your 1st yearly fee. To obtain this you will need to demonstrate,
that you are serious about your reseller ambitions.
Means, you should be able to proof, that you can send several thousands of
domain/webmaster/intenet related visitors/month to your reseller without spending
hundreds/thousands in advertizing.
PM me if interested

I hope I could answer some basic questions, If you need more stuff to read
