Caution GoDaddy / TDNam support = WORST of all by far

I expressed publicly in the past that i don't like GoDaddy at all.
However i'm fair with everyone and decided to try their TDNam service (not the domain registration service)

So i listed some names at TDNam.com
After a while i got an offer, i counteroffer, the user accepted and we went to the next phase

Now i didn't know what to do next, i had experience with Sedo and Escrow but not with TDNam

- I email support@TDNam on 18th-Jan-2007 15:10 asking them how i will proceed, how they will secure the name transfer ....
- No reply
- I managed to have contact with the buyer using TDNam mail system
He was reliable and friendly, he requested a transfer, i approved, the transfer completed ok
- I get an email from TDNam on 05-Feb that the transaction will be completed on 15-Feb
- I get the same email on 10-Feb
- On 15th i get an email that the transaction is complete
- I sent emails on 15th-16th-18th asking when i should check to verify the receipt of the payment
- No reply
- I get a reply on 19th Incident Number : 16662** that they will reply in 24H

- I do receive a reply within these 24H with :
"Once the buyer pays for a domain on The Domain Name Aftermarket (TDNAM), the funds are held for a full 30 days in the Transaction Assurance
period. We release the funds on the 31st day and it may take up to 5 business days for the funds to be submitted to the Pay Pal account you
entered when listing the domain. If it has been more than 36 days since you received notice of the buyer's payment, please contact disputes@tdnam.com to see if the buyer filed a dispute for non-receipt of the domain"

- I email both support and dispute on 22nd-Jan
- NO reply until 26th-Jan that i email them again (Incident ID: 17000**)

- Reply from TDNam on 27th :
"Due to its complex nature, your issue has been relayed to our Advanced Technical Support Team. Our most skilled technicians will be working to
resolve your issue quickly and completely. You will be notified promptly upon resolution"

- Reply from TDNam on 28th :
"Thank you for contacting Online Support. It appears that a response to the previous incident has been sent. It appears the funds have gone
unclaimed at PayPal. Please login to your PayPal account and accept the funds"

- I reply them the same day :
"....So you either sent the money to another person or you simply messed up the whole issue
If you continue to tell me that there are unclaimed money to my paypal account then i can provide you with a screenshot of the last 60 days"

- Reply from TDNam on 01-March-2007 :
"The email address provided does not match the one currently on file with the payment transaction. The funds will be returned to us within two
weeks from Pay Pal, which will allow us to correct the error and resend the funds. We apologize for the delay this has caused"

So in short they sent the money to a wrong paypal account
I will not characterize this issue with any other comment other than the topic title but i will give you these 3 choices to select for this case :

1. You get your feet like the known Road Runner cartoon and get away from anything looks or smells GoDaddy
2. You say that it's 1 in a million case
3. You put 10 rabid feet to your pockets for luck when you do business with GoDaddy
(maybe there are other options but these 3 are the ones i can think right now)

Honestly, I wouldnt bother listing on TDNAM - I love buying expired names - the process is cut and dry, but acting as a third party? TDNAM is the worst.

I agree 100% with that statement. Dealing with 3rd parties can be darn near impossible.

But have you bought or sold domains on their system that are not "Expired" domains?

I'm going to assume if he sold any domains, they wouldn't be expired.

I've never needed support on GoDaddy or TDNam, so I can't really say anything bad about them. :/

Alright alright.... some people are having decent experiences on TDNAM. Like I said previously, I ran into too many problems when it came to buying domains on TDNAM through sellers. I only buy expired from now on. (and I used to work for Godaddy!)

I don't see anything wrong with their procedures apart from being a bit slow. As you've explained it, they've done everything by their book. I think this is probably the reason for the payment hiccup, which you seem to have ignored.

dotnom, how many names do you have at GD? Do you have an account rep who you can pressure for performance?

Also, I would simply abandon email and move directly to hourly calls until resolution. I learned that as a collections rep. FCTA only allows 6 contacts per day, but as a consumer it is limitless. Start wasting THEIR time.

Good luck, pal. I know how frustrating poor CS can be.

The expired names autions are fine but when it comes to buying from, and selling to other users I've have had a few hassles. On many occasions the whole process has taken a lot longer than it should have with me having to send multiple emails to sellers to get them to push the domains and a few agreed sales where the buyer disappeared. In the end it's all down to the person you're buying from/selling to and there's not a whole lot TDNAM can do if the person you're dealing with decides to be awkward.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=300115

I do think that they should introduce some kind of feedback system where you can see how many successful transactions each buyer/seller has had in the past, at least it would give people more confidence if they can see they're dealing with a reputable seller.

The issue is that the email address on GD account is the correct one and if they used it we wouldn't have any problem, so i can't imagine what "file" they do have apart from launching a big fat excus

Also an update with their reply (yesterday), again the issue is "complex" for them to deal :

No, i don't have an account rep, i don't use GoMammy for my domain name registrations (and not intent to use it in the next 100-200 years at least)

I know what you mean about the email but i find weird the so called "good support" of GoMammy to have cramps to their fingers (for email) and not their tongue (for direct phone call)

After all they are not a plumbing company, they sell domains, if these are not used to email then ....

Thanks for the "good luck". People should have plenty when they deal with GoMammy
