Ridiculous Sedo Transfer Agent - CANCELLED MY Sale

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
This is ridiculous, sedo's transfer agents need immediate reform now :td: .

I sold off www dot bo for $X,XXX via sedo auction all the way back in December.

Everything proceeded smoothly as the buyer quickly paid. Then, Mrs. Tamara's lack ok any skill kicked in as the typical Sedo Transfer Agent delays happened.

It took her a WHOLE MONTH to find out to transfer this name i would have to do a certain procedure which I already KNEW how to do!

Then, I repeatedly ask sedo to get on it, and they kept telling me that they were "waiting a response from the registry".

Finally today, Sedo cancelled my transaction saying the buyer wanted his money back (which i can understand). Just 2 weeks ago, they just told me to stay put.

Of course, mrs. Tamara lack of any business sense, she gave me all the buyer's contact details in one of the emails, thus I shall contact the buyer directly and hopefully we can complete this deal via escrow saving me a nice 7% of Sedo's damn comission.

Mara, I highly suggest you do an overall of your transfer team. Numerous compliants have been filed, yet nothing has changed. Taking 2 months + to TRY and FAIL in transfering my domain name is COMPLETLEY UNACCEPTABLE.

CONSIDER THIS:

Google and I completed the transfer of a certain .bo domain within 2 WEEKS not MONTHS.

A fellow namepros member and I completed a .bo domain transfer within a WEEK.

How in the world can a big "company" like yourself take over a MONTH to find out how to "Transfer a domain".

This is complete hogwash.

yup....im still pulling my hair out on a deal that has been going since December :td: i wonder what sedo reps do all day......

sorry to hear of your ordeal sam...nice name anyway and im sure another buyer will come along for it ;) although, 50,000 uniques a month must be a nice money maker until the right buyer comes along :)

Oh man, sorry to hear about that. I hope you were capitalizing on that traffic in the meantime.

If the buyer is still willing, why not contact them directly? If you know their details, its worth a try I say.

Not to mention you wouldn't get Sedo fees!

In that respect, you could offer slightly less for the name to get them interested again.

Just some questions to both of you:
1) How many "deals" did you make so far through Sedo ?
2) how many of them got screwed, or went slow ?
3) Are those really due to sedo actions ?

Anyone with less than 10 sales, and at least 30% are slow/screwed has no reason to charge that hard against Sedo.
(and I mean no charity sales ... < 1000$)

Some questions that each seller should ask him/herself:
How much comission do sedo earn on my sale ?
Is this enough motivation to arrage any upcomming issue in 48h ?

Bottom line is:
A value added service can only be provided if the income is higher than the expence.

And the transfer procediure, as far as I know, is NOT in reponsability of sedo, as they only act as escrow entity.
So if you got screwed due to a not sucessful transfer. Don't blame Sedo.
I recon that Sedo many time tries to educate the buyer/seller about the correct transfer syteps, and this is many times really confusing, especially for fancy TLDs.

PS:
I am with sedo since 1997 and only ONE sale got screwed up cause buyer droped out.
(Some slow ones, ok but this happens).

PS II:
Tamara, if you read this:
Speed up my 3 pending transactions...
Clean out the junk within the Sedo database...
Take actions on sellers that do not respond to offers...
... or I may change the lobby ;)

nrnf- since you have been with sedo for so long maybe you can help me understand something-
i have asked numerous times and get the same answer over and over about the auctions with no bids- needs a bid or thru a broker- and brokers are VERY picky and only put up premium names with no bids-
well, this is such hogwash and i like sedo- but i want to know why this happens- those names without bids are not premium- half of them are bottom feeders-
so, either brokers put up crap, hense saying that sedos brokers are worthless-
or, sedo is lying- and there is other ways to get names to auction-

i really need to know why this all happens because its just wrong

Good question, and I also have no answer.

And, I wouldnt give to much on the expression "broker".

As far as I can object on this, IMO auctions should ONLY be admited once a bid was placed through the normal negociation process.
No "broker" is needed to get a decent offer on a decent name.
Auctions, just for auction sake, is no good at all.... (Take a look at Ebay, and you know why)

Sedo is the only entity so far, that has the option to convert normal offers to auctions, enabeling buyers to increase already negociated prices.
This is currently the VALUE that Sedo offer to sellers in front of all others.
Filling the auctions with "0" bids is not a intelligent move, unless they want to end up as the knowen "I am too tiered to browse that crap" sites.

And, as i am already composing my whish list:
Sedo, please let us know some buyers data (for negociation sake) !
I promise we will still use your escrow service ;)

Hi nRnF,

thank you for sharing... hope my 1-statement remark have not upset anyone :)

(Sorry for the confusion)
Let me clarify, I am NO big player like you people here. My deals are limited.
I'm not complaining abt getting screw'ed by s e d o... just merely the slowness in their email responses which there are still great room for improvement. :)

- everytime I email back the rep, I will rev this auto-responder claiming:
due to high email capacity... do expect a delay in our agents in replying ...blah blah (something like that)
1st impression...bad

- a couple of time, I need repeated emails, before just getting a simple yes/no response. (Nothing related to the transfer process, I do know, that takes time :) )my most recent experience, I sent 3 emails + their online support form before getting a response.

again, if my sweeping statement, makes anyone feels bad .. so sorry

.. no flame, peace..

sedo is not perfect- but no company is :) and thats why places like this exist- to vent, get help, find answers- because you get canned answers from these places ;-(

what amazes me is- it is not hard to be a perfect company- but you find them more willing to spend time and money fixing issues that did not have to happen, then making the company a better place- i have always been stymied by this- lets just willingly toss $$$ out the window- i will never understand it..........

An Update to this, very ridiculous. I have NEVER seen something like this happen:

Organización Cornelis Parlevliet
Ciudad 2153 Nieuw Vennep
Dirección Lireweg 32
Fecha de Registro 2006-09-19
Responsable Administrativo Bjorn istas
Responsable Técnico Bjorn istas
Responsable Financiero Bjorn istas
DNS primario ns1.sedoparking.com
IP Primario 217.160.95.94

Looks like the transfer went through! AFTER sedo REFUNDED the buyer. Wow -__- .Thanks to my great sedo rep eben, he is looking into ASAP, and if sedo is at fault, they will pay me out of their own pockets (thats good).

To MARA: Your own Transfer Agent (tamara) is completely braindead to have REFUNDED the buyer without checking whois. Perhaps you need to launch an investigation on her.

Mr. Cornelis got www.bo for FREE?! wow. What sucks is that i had a $7,000 buyer lined up too, who just wired the money via escrow.com...AND he paid all escrow fees. How the hell am I suppose to tell him that I cant move the name now.

It took slightly more than a month for a 100 dollar sale!!!

"got www.bo for FREE?!" are you serious?
Sedo is one of the best escrow company...but when this happens... I hope the reimburse you.

I find that suspiscious to have a agent named Tamara and see your question to (ta)MARA, a fellow NP member...maybe i am a bit paranoid but most of the time a lack of responses, issues not beeing resolved happens when their are not enough support people/staff?

Just my 2 cents....

Cheers,

Frank

well...

I am Cornelis Parlevliet, the new owner and did NOT get the name for free... after i cancelled the deal because it was taking too long.. Sedo wired the money back to my account because i cancelled the transaction! Some days later, the domainname was registered to my name :) Funny situation i must say!

Sedo called me immidiately (they can be fast you know.. :) to ask me to pay for the domain :)

As i am a honest entrepeneur, i payed the money asap. And now i hope to earn some money with it,, :)

Damitssam, sorry for the confusion and enjoy the money !! I only have two more questions left. Why did you NOT contact me (you had my contact info) and why do you have to pay 7% commission.. i pay 10% for the names i purchase..

Regards from the Netherlands!
