Snapnames question.

How long does snapnames hold onto a domain before it drops it after the auction?

They capture the domain once it drops from the registry, and then release it to the highest bidder once payment is confirmed. Auction lengths vary, depending on if it's a public or private auction.

I know what they do, but .. what is the average time span before it is released again. 5 days ~ 7 days? I think it might be 7 days, because that is length of time you have until you have to pay for domains you bought. I am unsure though. So, if a domain drops today, then they snapnames registers the name. How long would I have to wait until they drop the name again.

How do you mean "before it drops after auction" ?
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/298200-snapnames-question.html

As far as I know, they don't even get it themselves unless it has been backordered for one of their customers - It will be open to other companies grabbing it.

They don't actually drop the name again, they just push/transfer ownership to you at the given registrar. The length of the transfer depends on the length of the auction -- most private auctions at 7 days, other public auctions are of different lengths. Once the auction is complete, they will process payment; thus the timeframe depends on the particular auction at Snap.

Sorry I was under the impression they register domains that drop reguardless if one of thier users back orders the domains or not then after 5~7 days lets them go. Like the domain tasters do. ie they buy the name see if anyone wants to buy it off of them and then drops if no one makes a bid, that way they don't have to pay the regfee's only the ICANN fee and if someone bids on the domain they make $60+ for the domain. My mistake.

Ah, I see. They only try to grab those domains that are backordered, while those that aren't either enter into a lower-priced drop auction, or are caught by other drop-catchers, or are released back into the wild.

Would this be at snapnames or are you talking about another domain auctioner? I think it would best if I just experiment with the days. Trying to find names 5~10 days out from the drop to see if the "tasters" have released the domains.

I like picking from the scraps. You can get a few domains with 1000+ backlinks and/or domains that had Pagerank before the drop this way.
