I have not caught much with them, that is for sure. Still have two right now, but I did use one to catch AnalyzeStocks.com a while back.

well, i caught a domain that no one but me would probably want with godaddy - gambierohio.com....
means nothing to anyone else, but that's where my alma mater was. good ole' kenyon.

anyways, all the good, decent, or a hair above average domains i tried to catch with godaddy....were entirely unsuccessful.

Godaddy has been both a disappointment and a surprise to me. It may be coincidence, but I find if I backorder a few days out, instead of the night/morning before a drop, I have better luck with Godaddy. It's probably coincidence.

I use Enom mostly, but a while back, Godaddy caught a few that I had backordered on Enom, and was quite surprised. Maybe it's all just luck, who knows. I had one domain I wanted realy bad and had a backorder on Enom, Godaddy, Namewinner and Pool. Take a wild guess who got it? buydomains.com

Anymore, I put my bids in and say a few hail mary's (and I'm not even Catholic!) and hope for the best. Each day brings a new lot of treasures!

Bugger. Doesn't sound to good. I was just thinking about using it as there is a domain that I desperatly want and it expires in the start of November this year.
The geezer who owns it has had it since 93 and doesn't use it. The thing is I could probably make a fair bit of money off of it if I sell it on.

Well, I can but hope.

My guess would be that if he has had it since 1993, he will probably re-register it before letting it expire.

Have you tried approaching him to sell it or trade for it?

Well, I can but hope.
how do you know he does not use it? I had some old domains that people would always ask to buy as I 'did not use it'. and giving silly prices for the unused domain, so I finally put a simple web page on it so they would stop.

I did not have too much success with them either. I lost all names with high traffic on them, and managed to win linuxhome.net, 91 visits per month.

They have definately gone a bit down hill in the last month or so, used to get about one a day through them ... It has now dropped to about one every 10 days.

All the best

I just got my first successful catch with godaddy today.

I don't know if it helped that the previous registrar was actually godaddy as well and I backordered it a few days before it deleted.

A branch of GoDaddy, Blue Razor, just caught one for me, but I doubt there was much competitition for it: RFIDEA.com. However, the backorders w/ BlueRazor only costs 12.95, including 1 year of reg, so for $6-$7 extra , it is worth it to me for names that may be on the cusp.

Have heard practically no one mention BlueRazor.-I think it is relatively new, at least it is for me. It's a GoDaddy operation or "club" (as they refer to it). You join up for about $25, and get discounts on names, renewals, backordering and certain other services. Not the number of services as at GoDaddy's main site , but if you have a large volume of renewals, can save about $1/ea plus Back Orders are about $6 less than GDaddy and names are less than GoDaddy's regular (non-"sale" rate.. Heres link -> BlueRazor
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=26135

Question- if GoDaddy misses a catch, do they refund $ money or give a credit? They missed a couple, and looks like they are still monitoring the misses for another year. Obviously would prefer refund or credit. One of those little details that I have found no direct info on, and conveniently(for co. holding my money), to let slip by.

Godaddy will offer you a credit if they miss a name.

You can just login to your account and go to the backordering/monitoring section and simply change the name you are monitoring.
