The fine print seem to be:
8.25$ renewals (you can pay for two years @ 2.95$ though...)
max 100 domains per customer.

Since their idea of business includes under priceing for the first year(s)
I'd be surprised if it's easy to transfer them out....

My thoughts as well.. seems to be a pattern similar to iregistrations and 1and1. I know I'd hate to be the "guinea pig" for this experiment.. anyone else tried them?

Do they take PayPal? No way I'm giving them my CC info..

I know they limit you to 100 regs and they must al be new regs at that price.

They have Live Chat on the main page, why not ask some questions?

yes, it's iPower, for what i've read i can say that they really do that price because they do a good part of the job "manually" instead of registering domains through the common ways.
But, first of all, they don't accept paypal, so i've tried them only because i'm an happy owner of a pre-paid credit card, wich can't be charged of that much.
Then, you are supposed to wait several hours, maybe days, for the domain activation, and, as an example of the service, you have to email the customer service if you want to chenge the DNS server settings, or to unlock the domain.
Definetly, i'd rather to pay few bucks more but get the real full service elsewhere..

You are right at all , except dns change - if you use opensrs.net interface change cant be done automaticaly , but if you use http://www.yourdomain.com/vdeck , there is automatic lock/unlock option. (you have it even if you dont have hosting with them - just limited version of vdeck)
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=155516

I feel more comfortable with other domain providers too (e.g. enom, godaddy...) But sometimes the price is main factor.

Guys, unless you really know what you're doing, don't let the price fool you.

Make sure they have what you're completely looking for. Otherwise, just look
elsewhere.

Better yet, get your domain name with an actual registrar!

received a reply today:

Dear Customer,

We would not charge to transfer away from us. (unless your domain is expired) The new registrar would probably charge a fee though.

Pro:

A rep from ipowerweb called to thank me for becoming a customer and offer assistance if required. He then followed up with an email. This scored some points with me. At 2.95 a registration, I don't expect live communication/support

Cons:

Finally got around to logging in to verify my domains.

1. Two of the domains I registered don't resolve, no whois data. (this, IMHO is pretty bad, because I got emails for each domain saying they were set up.)

2. I seem to need to log into each domain individually. - Unless there is an multi-domain managmenent console hidden somewhere, I wont reg too many domains there.

3. The company shows up as technical contact in my whois data, which really bugs me. They seem to have the "control panel" locked down unless you ask for full access. (I've requested this)

I've had worse experiences with full price registrars before, so the jury is still out. We'll see what kind of support gets provided. I've emailed the gentleman who called me to ask for his help and will try to post the gist of his response/actions here.

Thanks for sharing.

About 3. - login to manage.opensrs.net and from menu choose "reseller contact" - choose hide.

Here you can consolidate domains to one account too. - this about 2.

About limitations of vdeck - Maybe full version comes only with their hosting.

If i am wrong - please correct me.
