![]() | Thanks guys for your replies. I guess what you all are saying is that yahoo's domains can't be bought on a stand alone basis and that the buyer has to "mandatorily" buy their small business plan (whatever that is) alongside. Please calrify..anyone.. Boris, can you give some details about godaddy's domain details. Thanks, |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | With GoDaddy you can have domain for 6.19 (domain for 1.99 along with another service). Search for GoDaddy here and you will see lots of topics regarding domains and promo codes with them.

![]() | Yahoo makes most of its money from other sources like web hsoting so they offer cheap domains and even here Yahoo is charging u 2$ or something .. u can find even some hosting companies u can give u free domain because they charge u for the domain with hosting package. the domain charge is hidden in hosting package. That is why they offer free domain. Its all Marketing Tactics |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | check this out... Testimonial I have one recommendation about Yahoo Domains - DON’T! I have spent the past four days trying to transfer my .org domain from Yahoo to another registraa. It has taken six calls to their support people to try to get the required access code, and NONE of them even knew what an access code is - I had to read the explanation from Yahoo’s own help pages over the phone to them! They are a reseller for MelbourneIT, and now I can’t get a response from that company. My domain name is broken and in limbo, and the best Yahoo has been able to do is to give me a phone number to call in Australia - and I’m in the US. My advice: no matter what the cost, stay away from Yahoo Domains. Joel B Let’s share my experience. I bought a domain name from Yahoo! Domain using credit card. Credit card centre called me for confirmation. After two days, I visited my site and found out that page not found. I thought my siteserver down. But i think it is impossible as i hosted my other sites at the same server which are all working fine. Then i went to check the whois information and found out that the domain is belong to someone else. And yahoo! refund me. Shit!!! I can’t believe that…the domain name is googlegulpcaps.com ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=142768 joseph |

![]() | Why Yahoo domains so cheap? Well from what I gather being that I have bought a few from Yahoo.Well they charge $2.99 to register a domain name when most other websites charge 3,4 even 5 times more.Yahoo doesnt lose no money at $2.99,if anything they gain $$$$.In the long run they make a killing. When your domain comes up to renew you have to pay I believe $25.00 a year to another website which is affiliated with Yahoo. Then for you to transfer it back to Yahoo also will cost you a fee if you decide to have it there. There for once you renew your domain you are locked in to that $25.00 a year registration fee regardless if its a yahoo or somewhere else.Thats the catch! Hope that explains Yahoo`s cheap domain registration fees.So when you see $14.95 registration fees else where,JUMP ON IT! In the long run, paying more to register a domain will save you $$$$! |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I change the server name on an existing godaddy name to yahoo servers. I ordered 3 years of renewals on this name. Six days later the whois has not been updated -- the 3 extra years have not been added on. The name is due to expire end of next month so I will see what happens. |

From what I've picked up from other people is DON'T use them if you wish to resell the domain name. I suggest that you use them if you will be developing a site with long term plans. So registering for five years for a little less than $15 has the site all tied up and yours. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=142768 Hopefully for your sake, you will have made a fortune on the internet within five years and it won't matter how much they decide to charge you in 2010.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | yes, yahoo is not good if you want to register a name and then resell it. But if you want to develop it, it is fine. No where it says that you need to buy other services from them to buy domains at that rate. Also nobody can guarentee prices after 3 years or 5 years. Plan to resell : Yahoo is not good. Plan to develop (but not resell even after development) : yahoo is great. I have few domains with them and one developed, I have no problems. Also, small business tag does not matter match at least to me. DNS propagation is a tricky thing. There could be many reasons, why they dont propagate quick. Safe propagation time 48 hours. my 2 cents This post is very confusing. Did you try to transfer a domain name from Godaddy to yahoo? Very strange, why did you want to do that? More over, some times the transfers can take longer than 6 days. gamehouse

![]() ![]() ![]() | I redelegated. See http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/domains/redelegation.php I must have misunderstood. I then paid for domain features at $2.99. My mistake, I thought I was paying renewal fees. That's more money down the drain. Maybe the red print on this page has been added recently after others did the same and then complained they hadn't got renewals.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have been registering domains with yahoo since their $2.99 deal started. Here are some things you need to know if you want your domain to drop or even if you transfer out always make sure you cancel your domain through their control panel (or you will be billed yearly). When you are going to transfer out do the same thing as with 1 and 1 transfer out with plenty of time left on the domain (my recommendation 2 or 3 months left) in case of any problems. I have used these with 1 and 1 (another hated registrar) and Yahoo successfully and I've enjoyed the savings with both of them with no problems. Sometimes if you want to save a couple of dollars you have to put in the extra effort. Before it's renewal time I transfer to a new more user friendly registrar (usually whoever has a special going). ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=142768

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I registered five last Friday at Yahoo. What I do is I register it, than I go to the main Yahoo page and click on the domain link. I do it everytime. If that doesn't work try logging out and do everything again. If I register any domains there within the next couple of days I'll post an update, but it's always worked for me without a hitch. |
