![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | OVT History Tool The IDEA is to have an OVT based Tool where Simple View: - User will be able to select a month say Sep-2004 - Next he will choose th keyword, lets say it's free image hosting It will then query OVT and comes with the data as it shows right now for just the last month. Premium View or Advanced View: - User will double quote any keyword like "Free Image Hosting" - and select the OVT history range like Aug-2004-Aug-2005 It will come up with a historical view of the 12 month searches of the key term. Some other features could also be added like - Graphical views of the search patterns for easy comprehension - Forcasting of expected searches in next month/year Any if you could link it up with some domain reseller/registrar you can also - show matching domians sold/bought/dropped/for sale/auction with the searched keyword - show some fresh reg suggestions I can think more on it and would come up with a more lengthy wishlist. but let me first know your views on the idea. Is there any thing like this availble in the market. Is there any tool which can let you dig up the OVT results for any given month? I guess I would even love to pay to have some thing like this. Do you? and don't you think that life would be easier if OVT implement it all by themselves?

![]() | Overture Data History The project you described is one of much bigger proportions than you seem to appreciate (at least if you want enough data to make it worth doing). Just to store 1 month of overture data for a decent size phrase and domain list requires at least 4 million queries to overture, and the same size database. Now multiply that by 16-24 months (for your historical data) and you now have over 50 million rows in your database. I am working on something like this (but primarily for domains, not keyword searches). It takes alot of work. So far i have about 4 million rows in the DB. At some point I may make the data available publicly, once I get enough rows to make it interesting. Nice concept, not trying to shoot you down, but it would require several dedicated servers, at least 50 IP addresses, and a very good DB programmer to make the whole thing managable. |

Does anybody know hoe OVT is managing the results? How do they look-up for those results? Does anyone know if they delete the older records when they update or keep them? If they are already maintaining a db of each and every searches on their network then it is quite possible to query for a keyword searches took place in the past month? I wonder what the site www.ovthistory.com might be using to get that info. May be some one from that site could brief us. Thanks!

![]() ![]() ![]() | Well the easy way would be to get Overture to give you a copy of their database each month ![]() I don't recall how many queries Overture lets you do in a given period of time but I do recall it's low enough that I have run into it before. Doing 4 million is going to be tough. Perhaps the way to approach it would be to let people sign up to track certain keywords. This would likely be far less than 4 million and would satisfy your users since it monitors exactly what they want. |

I most probably would be interested to register on the base of that hiostorical data and in the domain name game you cant afford to wait for even a couple of months to let track the results first and then regsiter a name based on that histroical data. So that does not make up a good tool for domain nam etool. Yes it can be a valueble tool if you want to keep track of your own keywords for a longer period of time to figure out weather you should stick your current keywords or move on to others. An interesting finding could be to know what type of keywords for the same products users search in different months.

It would be nice if you could be up and running at full force in a few days with some free scripts, and free data, but I don't see that happening.

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=123605 I mean the "delay" in thinking about the keyword and getting the list is killing the idea. Whole beauty lies in real time. Getting the required info that very moment when I need it.
As I said before, Idea is on the Table I would love some one else (a programmer or a resourcefull person) come up and implement it. It will be a great service for domain resellers.

Long ago there was a little company that had a web page where people could look up whois information. They kept an archive of al the whois data queried through their site. Next thing you know whois.sc is the most popular historical whois service around. That's why you sometimes build a system that does one thing which will later allow you to do another.
