![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The Pro's & Con's Of Your Domain Registar... I'm sick of reading through topics and reading random people posting random messages about how they 'hate' a certain registar, without an explanation as to why they hate it. This also applies to people that post messages saying how great their registar is, except not giving us an explaination of why that particular registar is soo great. So, this is my ranting topic to get everybodies attention! Please reply to the topic with the registar(s) you use and give us what the pro's and con's of that registar are. This should be interesting. For forward to reading some peoples pro's and con's! Registar: NameCheap Pro's: It's simplisity impresses me! The members area is soouser friendly in my own opinion. It is easy to navigate, whether you want to purchase a new domain, edit your domain details or modifiy the DNS settings. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/11879-the-pros-cons-your-domain-registar.html Along with this, we have it's features. It has everything you need to fully manage your domain name, which is obviously very handy. Along with this it has little nicities such as the Paypal availablity and the domain name pie chart as you enter your member area. It is also very fast at registering and transfering domains. The easy 'push' feature is also great for business. Con's: It only has 10 characters limited for the account passwords! I sometimes find that it's Domain search goes down... I doubt it's just me, but on a regular basics I get the odd 'Error' message beside .com and .org domains. The pricing could be a bit more competitive aswell, and they could do with sending out more newsletters! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Enom: Pro's: Competitive pricing, even at $8.95/per in my Reseller account, IMHO. Free URL Forwarding and VERY easy to use, update WhoIs contact information, Nameservers, etc. Free and EASY pushes ![]() ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=11879 Lots of other domainers use it (see right above), so transfers between are simple. Can "refill" account with either credit card OR Paypal. Con's: Nuffin', really ... 'cept perhaps I could be saving a bit with either a $7.95 Reseller account or even "Retail" account. Still working the math on the $6.95 Reseller account. The 3% fee on the refills (but still, using converted "Enom Bucks" beats pay-as-you-go with a credit card for me). Thanks for the thread, Darren.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Enom Won't repeat what CoolHost has already said but also : Pro's : Great customer support if you have been with them for a while. We have a $6.95 account ... WHICH WE DID NOT PAY FOR. Enom actually contacted us to offer us the account because we were registering a reasonable level of domains. Can also refill account with check ( don't use it but thought I would add it )The many options available ( eg API , PDQ, Registry Rocket ) to present you business depending on budget / tech knowledge. Club Drop .. pretty good at grabbing domains. The way you can offer extra services and set your own prices for your clients. Con's: Not maybe the quickest at updating to new technology ( was a problem a while back on a new version of Explorer that caused problems for clients loggin in ) ... was not a great problem through. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=11879 Now there are a few cheaper alternatives, but time will tell if they are as reliable ( been with Enom for over 3 years in our business ). Nastry rumours about being taken over by a certain other company that will remain nameless ![]() Nice thread by the way, will be interesting.
