![]() ![]() | I think it is a new way to have exclusive names only by Snapnames... By "renewing" some names, they are not viewable in search engines of pool.com and other backorder services. I had that case with a premium domain name last week, and when I searched it 2-3 weeks ago, I could only see that it will be dropped by Snapnames. |

Netsol apparently renewed it. It doesn't show a registrant. It just seems a bit odd. Like it mever was allowed to drop, it was renewed 10 days ago and it is sitting in limbo. My software shows that the info was obtained from whois.networksolutions, so I don't know where the discrepency is, not to mentione who the registrant is or who renewed it on the 15th and on who's behalf.
Less than a year ago, the outgoing registrar had no better shot at gaining a drop than any other registrar. Today, the registrar can cherry pick the top names that pass expiration and redemption period and can renew them before they drop and, than, partner w/ a drop service and create an auction and make alot more money at the buyers expense. Rules? Who needs stinking rules when when no one is around to enforce them. Take the money as fast as you can and as long as nobody says no. Unfair business practices? Class action suit? Maybe what they are doing is legal, but it sure runs contrary to what I thought was the deletion protocol. Maybe there's a loophole? ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=118354 Maybe jberry can shed some light on this.

I think drop companies seem to have arrangements with different registrars, one name I went for I backordered in it both places, then it was noticed by godaddy Looks that way to me anyway

Well somebody had paid for it. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=118354 I use Softnik DoNA for searches, which is normally reliable. It showed that the name was renewed. I rechecked it this morning using whois.sc, and now it is on new name servers and shows the registrant:
However, I am assuming that the above is the original registrant and that this was not picked up as a drop. The Wayback Machine shows xixix com laying inactive/dormant for 9 years except for 1 page in 2004 that apparently had a small graphic on it. When I pull it up for that year on my machine, all I get is a graphics placeholder, so hard to tell who owned it up until 15Aug 05.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think I know what you're actually referring to. Remember that the registry autorenews an expired domain for 1 year and bills the sponsoring registrar for it. So the registry's WHOIS will say the domain has been renewed for 1 year while the registrar's WHOIS says it's actually expired. So the domain's actually expired in netsol. They've switched the info to their "Pending Renewal or Deletion" thingie until either: a) it's renewed, b) it's sent over to SnapNames if not renewed on time, or c) it'll be deleted if neither a nor b took place. Once actually deleted, the registry will refund the registrar for the autorenew. |

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=118354 to .com and .net domains only. Netsol's deletion policy says they'll hold an expired name for 35 days. So if the name isn't renewed by then, they'll put it in a "holding account" and check at Snapnames to see if someone made a backorder for it. If someone did backorder thru Snapnames or more than one did and went thru an auction (highest bidder wins, of course), then Snapnames will award the name to that party and Netsol will transfer it to the winner upon notification. On the other hand, if there's no backorder after 3 days (I think), then Netsol will tell the registry to delete the name. As long as the domain name has been deleted and is at the registry level, it'll eventually be up for grabs for anyone. Hope this clears it. And can I have a banana? (I love bananas )
