Which one is better?

Hi,

If says I want to have a domain for some kind of forum or discussion community, and no forum.com available to register now, what alternative type would you choose?

talk.com chat.com club.com cafe.com board.com bbs.com center.com or -forum.com(with hyphen) and forum with other ext such as .org .net ....? Or do you come up with anything better than these ones?

Thank you for your time.

Thank you for your hint, however, it's result looks not like what I expect, I hope I may get some more specific idea on this issue.

There's some good, comparative information in that thread provided ... for more specific ideas, please tell us a bit more about your "theme" or niche here, ie., what kind of forum or discussion community? Who is your target audience, what kind of demographics?
What domain are you utilizing now ... and what are the domain names you're potentially considering (if registered)?
Help us to help you ... with the specifics.
Thanks, and Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks, coolhost. however, I do not have any potential domains to say for now, I just wonder if there is any comment on this issue. Because many times while I wanted to register a forum domain and always found they were gone, thus I have to choose other ones instead. That is why I want to know which option will you most people choose if any?

That's cool.

"Talk" is a viable alternative to "Forum", generally speaking.
Best of Luck here.

Yup, I like talk as an alternative to forum. Chat is more about real time chatting as oppose to a forum to me!

Thanks for you inputs, so "talk" is next to forum, right?

How about club, bbs, cafe, center? I personally prefer club than talk, and cafe sounds nice in some cases
I know bbs is a past, but it is still very popular in Asia, Japanese , Chinese like to use bbs than forum.

One more queston, if forum.com was gone, but other extions are still available, which ext. would be more suitable for a forum? .org? .biz? .info? or .net?

I think 'cafe' is real good... Depends on the forum though...

I mean, you have 'Internet Cafes', so why not have a 'Discussion Cafe'. Hmm come to think of it, it's not the perfect of all perfect matches.

Club is good, but it depends on the forum topic.. Will it be a club as such?

I think 'community' fills in nicely instead of 'forum'.

I like club and cafe as well, but it really depends on what words/ideas you combine it with.
