"Domain Secret" - Secret no more!

Many people have been puzzled by the request for a "domain secret" when trying to transfer .IN/.CO.IN domains to Directi or a Directi reseller. Nobody knew what it was. I assumed it was just an odd choice of words for the "EPP Auth Code" that we've become accustomed to using for .US/.BIZ/.ORG (etc) but wanted to make sure.

Poor "Hark"... nobody was able to find out for sure (until now) and he tried to transfer without using any codes at all. I'm pretty sure he just did a single name though, as an experiment. Hopefully it won't get lost in limbo for long.

I just tried to transfer putting unknown for the secret. PayPal processed the charge but since I am not considered a 'good guy' (verified I think) resellers will not process for a few days so adventures.co.in may spend eternity in limbo.

It's just an illusion RJ, done with smoke, mirrors and a sexy assistant. Most people never realize that all my domains are actually 3 word hyphenated org's.

Hark, I haven't had any domains at DD24 in a very long time, way back before their makeover, so I don't know how they work now. The EPP "Auth Code" is standard transfer procedure though, so if you don't see it anywhere using their interface, then contact support and they should be able to get it. Make sure to tell them you want the "Auth Code", and not the "Domain Secret" since we know you already tried that and (like many of us) they didn't know it was the same thing.

They have the info stuck away in the FAQ's. If anyone needs it from DD24 there is a little i next to the domain name when listed. Click it and like magic there it is.

Hark, that's good to hear sir. Now you can finally get them moved over to Pratik's site. By the way, I just finished transferring a .IN domain over there today and everything was fine, so hopefully you've got smooth sailing ahead.
