A successful web site must have high link popularity!
More and more search engines rank your web pages based on the number of links that point to your web site. Google uses link popularity as the most important factor in ranking sites. HotBot, AltaVista, MSN, Inktomi, and others also use link popularity in their formulas. If you want to have a successful web site, you must have high link popularity.

High link popularity is important for a high ranking on search engines. The higher your web site ranks on search engines, the more customers you'll get.

Link Popularity Check is a freeware program that checks the link popularity status of your web site on several search engines and compares it to other web sites on the Internet (for example your competitors).

No, googles most important factor is the relevance of the content to the search. That itself could be divided into many factors, though. And the number of links doesn't mean much for googles ranking. One link could be worth as much as 1000 other links in google eyes.

Google says "best way to improve your position in results is to have relevant content and multiple links from other web sites"

I think content is definitely the most important but links must come into it.

If you line 100 Search Engine Optimizer's up in a row and ask them to face the right direction...they would all be facing a different direction.

There's a free one online that I use all the time that I like. It's at:

They also have a tool to check a site's search engine rankings in various engines for certain keywords.

(I am not affiliated in anyway with them

... just thought it'd be helpful for those that don't want to install something on their computer).

It looks like a giant popup with more use.

as for top keywords,
google has Zeitgeist, lycos has top50 and other SE's have different rankings. Those are great tools.
