Please Appraise ThePhotographer.info, derfotograf.co.uk, fotografs.us, fotoZeigen

...just regged ThePhotographer.info. I dunno, cause it was available while other extensions were not, I guess, and I kinda see it as useful for some enterprising freelance photographer.

Along the way I also regged DerFotograf.co.uk, German for The Photographer, Fotografs.US, photographers, and FotoZeigen.com, which is Photo show in German as well.

I understand that the German language may limit the audience but there may be one or two German photographers in the country that may find use of the domain name, who knows?

Any idea as to worth, not necessarily in dollars and cents, although i would be listening, but in terms of practical use for the endusing aspirations of the photographer.

I did get fotograph.me, but that is just a bastardization of the German and English vernacular and I do not know of its brandability, at least not now.

I really don't see these as bringing much money your way...

The "the" in thephotographer.info brings down the value and I can't see anyone paying more than a reg fee on the other three... Maybe if you had photographer in Polish for the co.uk to capitalize on the Polish immigrants...

I have to agree that the "the" was a hindrance, but with the name being taken in all the other extensions, I just couldn't say no to it for a buck and ninetynine cents. I would think that the .info critically damages it as well but like I said I wasn't out to bust a wallet with it and now I'm gonna have a little bit of fun practicing on developing it for my own amusement for a cupla months(already started) or maybe I will make it a keeper if no one has any desire for it...it is a fun hobby if not a business.

Yeah, the name being in German is a tough nut to crack but I figured that there are many Germans tuned into the concept of photography out there that would be interested in actually setting up a shop or site in cyberspace.

A risky gamble to be sure, but again, I wasn't looking to capitalize on a big jackpot to begin with so it is just a speculation that may or may not go bust down the road.

I really appreciate the Polish suggestion but I am about done with the "photography" domain names and will be looking at other domain names that have a more desirable return.

Good analysis on your part S21, and well appreciated that you took time to express it as professionally as you did.

I don,t really think "the" kills the term for this domain as it would others. The Could be taken context with "For The Photographer". As long as the development was right I kind of like it. Nice for Resources and supplies Rather than Photography itself.

Thinking outside the box is always a healthy attitude to take. I did not think in that direction and it does make a lot of sense. The extension may be what hampers the success of the site as well, I think.

But I liked it, the price was right and selling it in a few months may be easy as I don't really expect all that much. I'm already playing with it and can see how a hobbyist would have fun with the name regardless of .info.

A business enduser may have hair pulling episodes while marketing the name because of the letters at the right of the dot, however...
