cant we take or register any name we decide

i see ebay name in many many domains registered
and i see many extentsion like org net and others are registered , that dont mean that original ebay has registered it

And ebay is trademarked meaning the owner of a registered trademark may commence legal proceedings for trademark infringement to prevent unauthorized use of that trademark.

ebay has a history of telling people to stop using and drop names with ebay in them or risk legal action. Do you want to put hard work into the name just to have to drop it? And the more you work on the name the quicker they will discover you.
