Thoughts and ideas on a great name...

Hello Everyone,

I got an outstanding domain name today (thanks to Manic's Hotlist

) and would like opinions, ideas, and appraisals on it. The name is DeathStats.com

It's a domain name with huge potential because there are over 5 MILLION search results on Google for the term death stats and would be ideal for a bureau or company that keeps statistics and data on deaths, suicide, homicides, etc. It's nice, short, easy to remember and very brandable.

Nice pickup, Chris.

I see potential in developing it, especially if you tap into public sources such as the Social Security Death Index and state specific death indexes. Let users query the records to find vital information. You'll notice a lot of demand for this in Overture, search for 'death index'

What value price do you see in it now and then when it's developed? I have an idea in my head on it's value tag but looking for what others think as well.

When I first saw this domain on Jen's list, I remembered seeing a billboard that tracked the number of people dying in the world. But looking over RJ's comments, this domain would work much better in genealogy. I'm giving this domain a wholesale value of $100 and retail value of $250. The only reason I didn't go higher is that the genealogy field is dominanted by a few players so it would be very hard to develop better sites. Still, it is a nice catch. Kudos to Jen for keeping the great lists flowing.

low $xxx wholesale -- I can't believe this was unregistered. Multiple uses for this one -- geneaology, sociology, public policy, etc.

So many uses already posted. May be you should include stats of the deaths by different diseases like Aids, Hepatitis, etc... or by wrong medicines, etc...

Should be atleast Low XXX range. Good luck with the domain.

That's a great idea. So many different causes of death -- smoking, drunk driving, accidents, law enforcement. You could list them all and have pages on each type of situation.
