Type of Contest: Logo/Header Design

Prize: $30 PayPal

Contest End Date & Time: Feb. 14, 2010, 6:00 PM PST

Size Requirements: The logo/header is intended to fit in the space shown on ThisNormalLife.com. It should not be greater in height than the space you see on the page now.

Color Requirements: Any colors that match the website. The picture on the right will be changed from time to time, so the colors don't have to match that picture. The sidebar colors can also be changed if you come up with a great looking design in a particular color.

General Requirements: This is a header for a blog about "normal" life in Israel. The blog is not political but covers topics such as daily living, culture, Jewish tradition, music, travel, and parenting. I have attached a picture of myself that you may incorporate into the logo if you wish. I also thought of including an Israeli flag - particularly if you can find or create one that looks like it is "blowing in the wind."

Additional Information: The tag line "All about normal life in Israel" should not be in the header. "This Normal Life" should be written as separate words, not all together and not with .com at the end.

Hi everyone,

Some great ideas to get started. Let me provide some feedback.

LucyChase: I love the waving flag. The little men don't work so well for me, nor does the text in blue. Can you try another with the flag? Also, we don't need the tagline "All about normal life in Israel" in the logo.

minucosminu: I like the use of the flag in the title. The rest of the text, though, is too plain - not exciting enough yet...

josephine: I like the look, but it has to fit in the lengthwise space on the blog. It's too square now. Can you try that? Also make the "N" and "L" capitalized.

lukeyboi88: same as with josephine: it needs to fill the lengthwise space on the blog. Also, no "is" in the title.

Finally, no one incorporated my picture into the logo. I'm thinking maybe you didn't receive it. Go to this page and use my picture from there: About â€” Blum Interactive Media

it's hard to incorporate your picture without making it larger in height. if I use it in the current height, than it isn't visible enough to make something out of it.

Hi minucosminu: you can make it a big taller if need be. See what Josephine did. I think the picture will add to it. Give it a try.

josephine: I like the version with my picture.

For all: I want to somehow fill the space more, rather than just have a logo on the left side. I don't know if that means it should be centered or have some design in the background.

LucyChase: will the fluttering logo work if I upload just a normal .gif to my blog? Do I need any special software to make it "blow in the wind?"

Hi Ashutosh: that's not what I'm looking for. It needs a connection to Israel, me, "normal" life. You've put together a nice poster for an action or fantasy movie. Try again?

It will will work as a normal .gif darlin ... I am working on a few more ideas which incorporates the flag. Will post them soon!

Lucy: I like using the flag and my picture. But the background of the city is too much, too busy. Try to tone it down if you can. I also don't love the text reading "This Normal Life" yet. Please try another approach.

The gray background is also a litlle dull. Can you try something more exciting, but still not overwhelming? Another thought: can you put my picture and flag both on the left side and then the text to the right of it? Not sure that's the right direction, but would be interesting to see. Thanks.

josephine: haven't heard back from you yet. When you try the new concept, try putting the Israeli flag next to my picture instead of the Jewish star.

josephine: it's getting there...the visual doesn't quite work for me. Let's try it with just the logo, the text and the Israeli flag. It doesn't have to stretch all the way across the page. Also, could you try making the text "This Normal Life" a little larger and remove "www.thisnormallife.com" from underneath. thanks.

J-man: Josephine is right, but nevertheless, I still like this one a lot. Instead of the dome and the cross, can you find a shot of the Western Wall to use? That would be the best. Another direction: you might also find some good images of "day-to-day" Jerusalem if you search "Emek Refaim Street" "Nachlat Shiva" or "Mahane Yehuda."

Josephine: you can use these suggestions too.

Ancitis: The scroll concept in interesting. Could you try it a little "cleaner" with cleaner lines?
