[REQ-LOGO] Projectlolcat.com logo $50 + possible bonus
Type of Contest : LOGO design
Prize : $50
Contest End Date & Time : Oct 14, 2007
Details:
Please read carefully!
I would like a logo designed for my website, Projectlolcat.com. Required for this contest is a simple cat logo (cartoon-ish, not a pic of a real cat). I am looking for something very similar to the following but different enough that I don't infringe on any copyrights.
Another example is the Napster logo (below). However, while I like this logo for its simplicity, I don't like that it looks more like a human than a cat.
The logo needs to have lettering (preferably to the right of the image) that says "projectlolcats.com". If possible, please submit two logos, one with lowercase letters and one with uppercase letters. I have a preference for round fonts. Preferred colors: red, black, white, but not limited to these. Edited to add: black background. Maybe two separate colors for "project" and "lolcat" but not necessary. Also, please add the text "Coming soon" to your image submission.
One more thing to keep in mind is that I will be using this logo as a watermark to the lower right corner of my images. So it is important that the logo looks good when it's small and on different backgrounds.
Also, I'm not sure if this is allowed but if there's a logo that I really like, I will be giving a bonus of up to $50.
I will be checking up on this thread regularly and posting feedback. I'm looking forward to all of your submissions.
Hey AquaMaureen. Thanks for your quick entry. I'm not particularly a fan of that cat, no offense. As my OP states, the logo should look good on different types of backgrounds, so the lettering should at the very least be thicker.
I've also edited the OP. Totally forgot that I want it on a black background. My apologies.
ohgar_boy: I agree on both counts. I think it's cool, but like you said, not quite what I'm looking for. You get plus points for the white stroke on the text, it makes it easy to read on different backgrounds.
AquaMaureen: Great use of fonts (2nd one, Arial Rounded I believe, is considerably better). However, I don't like the cat or the color yellow. If anyone plans to deviate from my preference of red (specifically a darker, maroonish red), please use green.
vwaites36: Fonts are no good. I like the cat outline and while it would be perfect for a cat grooming service, it's no good for my site.
abobby: That cat needs to go, sorry.
Mango Tank: finally, the first submission with just the face of the cat. Keep the text simpler if you can - all lowercase or uppercase. I'm a big fan of the reflection, but not a big fan of the cat. The ears and the lips are a bit off.. in fact, it doesn't really look a cat at all.
Yamill: I like that you went one step further to convey the "lol" part of "lolcats" but the facial expression is not needed and makes it more complicated than necessary.
I have to sleep now so I will check back tomorrow.
ohgar_boy, perfect would be:
(1) a simple cat graphic very similar to the Tiara Kitten graphic that I posted above
(2) a slightly different font. The two fonts that I posted were VAG Rounded and FF Blur, so either of those fonts or anything similar would be better.
(3) "projectlolcats.com" all in one line
(4) smaller stroke size
Here from from my side
Hope u like them. All vector graphics and can be changed to any resolution / size.
Sorry for the typo on "coming", will be fixed if selected
Hello everyone. One very important aspect of this contest that I think many are overlooking is that the logo needs to be distinguishable when it's small because I will be using it as a watermark on all sorts of different backgrounds.
With that said, I've gone and created a simple cat image that I'm hoping you all could work with.
If anyone would like feedback on previous entries, please PM me and I will oblige. I apologize to anyone who feels I've wasted their time so far. I try not to be too picky but this is very important to me.
That's basically the Tiara Kitten logo with slight modifications. I don't believe you will get too far in trying to brand it without running into legal problems.
