What I presume you want to know is if it is GPL or any other licence that allows you to use it in a way you wish. For example vbulletin is open source but you still have to pay $160 to use it (on an owned licence)

I was under the impression that the phrase 'Open Source' originated from Eric Raymond who co-founded the OSI. Any links as to the true origin would be appreciated
