Question question about .eu domain

Hello,

I've never had a .eu domain and so I'm not sure about the value of these. For example, I found an available domain with 100,000 exact monthly searches and a CPC of almost 1 dollar. It is made up of two words and is taken in the main extensions. The .com and .info are parked and the .org and .net are minisites.
It is about a very popular item and there are no TM issues.

Would it be worth regging? How have the .eu domains been doing lately?

Many thanks for your time and best wishes for the new year!

.eu is probably not the extension that sells best.
Difficult to tell without knowing the exact name though.

I've seen .eu rank very high. If you're planning on developing it into a website then you should register the domain. Its even better if you're audience is from Europe.

I have got some .eu since landrush, but never sold any at all. I would expect the .eu as very popular since the EU has many countries in the Union, but developers and business owners still prefer the ccTLDs. I tried to register some high tickets domains in the 1.phase on my trademark, however Active24 registrar wasn't fast enough to put me on the top. There were some good sells. I spoke with a registrant who got Apartment.eu & Apartments.eu and he said he had an offer for 200k Euros per each but it was in 2006 before the recession. I guess Hotels.eu has been sold for high as well.

Correct, the ccTLDs rule.
In a few countries .eu gets some use but the EU (political entity) isn't exactly popular - so it doesn't help. There is some kind of overlap too, and lack of relevance. Many end users are happy with their ccTLD, especially when they don't do a lot of cross-border business. Those that are more global will use a .com...

I bought exactly three .eu for $10

So far it's a $40 profit. lol.
One dropped by mistake.
One I have but is worthless (I bought to go with a .com I subsequently sold)

.eu is pretty slow, it was good when all these new cctlds etc were not in the scene. I have sold Incharge.eu for around 2k euro and Series.eu for around 10k dollars, but that was in early days of .eu. I have better .eu names but they are eating dust.

The .eu seems to be slowing down in some countries. The numbers of German registrations are down and if this trend continues, it will be up to France and the Netherlands to hold up registration volume. Some of the former high flyers in the Eastern EU countries are also dumping .eu domains.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=742064

What is very worrying about .eu is that the registry is now presenting at a domainer conference. If the registry has to promote the TLD to domainers, then the TLD is in a lot of trouble because it should be the ordinary business users that would drive growth in a six year old TLD. Still though, .eu is a very wierd TLD, even by ccTLD standards.

Regards...jmcc
