![]() | Well knowing nothing about ccTLDs, I came online and bought two. I've recently been laid off, I'm a 30yo veteran and I invested 1k in two of these country code domains. I had an idea for a brand name I believe I can market, the country code I feel completely fits the theme and is the brand itself, coming online and then stumbling upon the ability to buy country codes like this, was a godsend. I'm a bit nervous now, just stumbling on the DIFFICULTIES of having a country code domain because it doesn't show up often on searches outside their area is news to me and I'm a bit of a burst bubble over here, haha. I have no plans to park the site, I want to become legitimately involved in a decent niche not so much by offering a product - though I will do that also if successful initially - but by offering an easy resource for fans of the niche. I had plans to purchase advertising through other niche sites initially, and the support of a 12k community is already reliable... ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/cctld-discussion/638755-well-knowing-nothing-about-cctlds-i.html I'll have to keep reading about this. A lot of it is above my head, but I hope a marketable brand name in a niche, even if it uses a country code, can show up high on the list of relevant results for a three-letter acronym. Otherwise I'm totally bummed! One of the three letter acronyms is also owned by the giant in the niche, so I'm not sure about that whole thing. But I felt, initially, that the domain itself would be of value... It fits and it's what people are looking for, and it's shorter and easier to get to, also.. I guess I'll see in the coming months! |

![]() | MMA.BS Yeah, yeah... I know. I've been reading all night. Oops. But gotta make the best of it and have some fun ideas. Why not, I'm passionate about the sport of mixed martial arts and have some clever ideas. Or maybe I don't! Haha. But gotta go with it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Duende, I don't think you should have paid $500 for those two, its too much. However, what's done is done, the good part is that MMA is growing daily and will probably overtake the wrestling thing in terms of eyeballs sooner rather than later. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=638755 I have a nephew who's into MMA and seems to be doing well with his blogger blog - so the bottomline for you is develop develop develop. I'd recommend developing on the .com instead of the .bs - aside from the seo implications thats one ccTLD i've never liked as a brand developer. If you need any help with sorting out the basics on ccTLDs please feel free to post questions, will be happy to answer to the best of my ability. If you need some help with development, check out the development section on NP or drop me a line if you need some specific info, cheers! |

![]() | Thank you! I would love to add you on here and tap your knowledge on occasion! I'm filled with questions. And for sure, what's done is done, but the offline company identify is 'MMA.BS' so the domain works; I think of it as just an extra little business cost. If you'd like to check us out, it's only been a few days and I'm doing it mostly by myself until Crowd Favorite catches up and gets on board to fine-tune tweak. Though at this point I might just go with wphelpcenter. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=638755 Anyway, I'd love for you to visit and please keep in mind it's rough and nothing really original is up there until the site is completely final and I know I won't lose anything during a reset! Still I've had over a thousand visitors in a week, and that's only mentioning it on a couple forums asking for help. I know those numbers are nothing remotely amazing but it's addicting! Link is in my sig! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Agree, the industry is a learning curve. Personally I would suggest sticking to the dominant extensions and perhaps focus on auctions while you are starting out. 99% of the names you see for sale publically will be overpriced. |

![]() | I am though, I believe, looking a little outside of the industry whereas I'm publishing legitimate books on mixed martial arts with the assistance of recognizable fighters, and sponsoring promotions and fighters on the ground, selling gear...all offline. So while I'd like to rank high in the search results, I'm more concerned with people offline being able to remember and find me. Obviously we'll provide these same things online... I'm not looking to throw a lid over the entire niche and steal every piece of traffic, just a chunk of the pie I think I can serve... I don't think the domain .BS makes that an impossible task for me. But we'll see. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=638755 But yeah, the domain trading thing is definitely something that's way over my paygrade. I've learned a lot the past week or so. Certainly do see a lot of overpriced domains. |
