For quite a few days I am hearing about this interesting extension .cd, it seems to a country extension for congo(not sure of the country) though.
'CD' can actually also stand for 'Compac Disc'
The extension '.cd' sounds to be interesting when attached with some of the top level keywords like music, videos, songs, images, etc which go extremely good with the extension.
So a songs[dot]cd or songs[dot]cd, music[dot]cd, image or an images[dot]cd are pretty usable and even very much brandable.
Though I am a bit orthodox and of the though that for website or a service '.com' is the only one, but as i mentioned above this extension seems to offer something.
Everyone has it's own views & ideas, what the domaining community thinks on to this?
What are your thoughts & how long do you thing this extension will go...

Its one of those classic extensions that has found itself stuck in time.
Clearly, CD or Compact Disc have been done with, which have been replaced with DVDs. Although CDs might be fairly popular in some countries because widespread introduction of DVDs may have not taken place in those countries, but it will soon change.
Technology, keeps on changing and you have to move ahead with it to survive.
I dont see any future for the .cd extension and I would advise you to stay away from it.

CD is the extension for the Democratic Republic of the Congo - there are two Congos, a big one and a little one. Complicated.
I have .CD listed as unreleased on TLDv.com, maybe someone has better information?
Speaking generally - if it has been released there are several specialists who would probably have registered the domains you listed, and most of the other valuable ones as soon as they became available.
Two conflicting points - Countries such as Congo can be unstable, meaning it would be wise to not invest heavily, if at all; and ICANN's upcoming extension dilution could actually help extensions like .CD, .FM, .AM, and .LA which have common meaning independent of their actual origin, because the public will be more accepting of unusual extensions.
Be aware that obscure extensions are very slow to sell and often their renewals are priced a lot higher than .com. Some have residency requirements or complicated paperwork, others are primarily marketed to non-residents.
What do u think would top level .cd like songs[dot]cd or images[dot]cd would worth for a end user as well as for a domainer.
I am pretty sure that if a service is been built around these domain for selling music albums or making an image bank like getty images, they would do good as it would be easily brandable and more importantly easily rememberable.

agree with u, new extension is going to help ...
if i'm a buyer i would go for nice/keyword/hack dot cd then ***********.com or paying high prices for some park page ...
i get four cd last month for free :
limited.cd
rare.cd
just.cd
rated.cd
It might not be that bad if you can get music/film related dictionary words and market them as such. Besides that it might be hard to pick up steam so for me .cd could stand for cease and desist.
I picked up
songs.cd (Song download or buying songs cd online service)
and
image.cd + images.cd (Image bank website, something like getty)
thinking they might be of some practical use to the end user and not just be top level keywords.
