The .ST extension seems to be very unpopular. I can find nothing at NamePros other than bad posts about this extension. Yet, even though I probably will only lose money with these names, I like owning ST domains. Sometimes owning a domain is more for fun than profit. I own ST as a hobby. I enjoy them.
One of my favorite STs is Futuri.st. If the Internet is about anything, it is about the future. So, I really like having the futurist domain hack.
Who else owns .ST? Please post what you have with a link to the site if it is online?
(For those of you who hate the ST extension and consider it an extremely bad investment, you're probably right.)
ST is what one might call an exotic ccTLD. There are a couple interesting things about it. First, it is number 9 on the list of most hackable extensions with 9,029 possibilities, according to xona.com. Second, it almost always resolves. Type anything into your browser (dahfgjhdfjahd.st) and you'll get a website. The only time the extension does not resolve is when a domain has been purchased and the owner fails to put a website online after changing the default dns. I think that's cool.
That's the problem. There is only one place to register .ST; that's NIC.ST. A domain costs 35 Euro. It is possible to prepay and get a lower rate (like DynaDot does). If you prepay 1,750 Euro you could get them for 17.50 Euro each. If your prepay 7,500 Euro, you can get the domains for 15 Euro each.
Somebody in Korea has HDTV.st now, but there isn't anything there. It is strange that people buy these domains and never put a site up. I don't know what people are thinking. Nobody is going to show up and offer millions for these things. They are more like vanity domains than anything else. Without some effort, it is a waste of money.
