I made research and found an interesting market trand of 3 letter .us which convinced me to register 1300 3 letter .us domain names.

It's not a secret that many 3 letter .com domain names are used by companies that don't sell their domains at any price. However a demand for a popular 3 letter acronym is pretty high. When an American business realizes they can't get .com vertion of their domain name, what would they do? They will go with .us version.

I haven't done any deep research on resellers level, however I got a significant data on reseller's activities:

I must agree with Yakov. Consider for a comparison the .de registry. As a country code, it's 2nd only to .com in total registrations and all this for the country of Germany.

The US is a great domain name market and the .us extension is catching on quick. I further don't think it will be too much longer before the 3-letter .us supply is bought out by someone doing what Elequa did for the 3-letter .info and .biz.

Consider that only about 4 months ago anyone could find 3-letter .info and .biz names to register at registration fee. Now those 3-letter names sell in this forum (even without great letters) for wholesale prices of $45 for .info and $25 for .biz. That's a healthy return in 4 months and the prices are still rising quickly! There's no doubt .us is next, and could even surpass the desirability of .biz names in my humble opinion.

Just a quick $.02 cents from someone who deals almost exclusively with 3-letter names, but I too have to give it to Yakov on this one...he's one sharp domain investor and right on the money here.

.us has potential BUT not what you all talking about. Thats why I never bothered with it. Plus it has restrictions.....any domain with restrictions isnt going anywhere outside its country ....
Thats just my bit.

BUT again, its gonna be ahell of a long long long time until people are trained to type .us
and thats a fact.... so if you are a reseller ....think twice... i dont sell and will never sell.

As explained in one of DNJournal's articles, elequa seems to have a different attitude towards domaining. Whether he simply doesn't care about losing money (since he claims to be an 'artist'), or there is a method to the madness, or it is a truly crazy approach, I guess only time will tell. But to domainers like us, the important thing is that his presence in the field helps restrict the supply of 3-letter domains. And given the law of supply and demand, this tends to push up the price of these bloddy things!

More power to you, elequa. And please don't dump those domains of yours. If you do, let me know ahead of time, ok buddy?

This is absolutely true. Elequa made an enormous amount of money for other people by buying out the 3-letter biz and info (me included). He is about the least selfish person I have ever met in this business and I know he got a lot of pleasure out of helping boost that market for everyone, even those his returns from those purchases won't be realized until some point in the future.

He is also one of the brightest guys in the business and I most definitely do not think he is crazy. Guys like that usually end up having the last laugh and when people see what they end up accomplishing they wonder "gee, why didn't I see that back then!" It's all about vision and looking beyond today. He has a strategy in mind and I have no doubt it will pay off.
