![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Silverman - I hope you haven't spent any good hard earned cash on your .eu registrations. If you look at the home page of the European Registry of Internet Domain Names (or Eurid for short) at www.eurid.org , you will see a big sign in bold that says
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/cctld-discussion/30624-eu-domains-are-coming.html In addition to this, trademark holders will have a sunrise period during which they can registrar all of their relevant domains. Hang fire and if you have paid money up front then ask for a refund! | ||||

![]() | There are a lot of registrars where they allow to "preregister" in their own local system, that is going to be used if they are accepted as .eu registrars. Some of the registrars only charge the money when/if a domain name is successfully registered, I suggest you use one of those.

![]() | I think they will be very big. Not too big, but good for targeting Europe. Yeah, you can't pre-register yet... He has a good point... Hope you get those domains! Anyways, I assume they are allowing non-EU residents to register EU domains? |

![]() | From what I understand eu domains wil be limited to eu registrars and residents. Also agreements will be signed with EURid rather than ICANN. Considering the complexity of most eu beaurocracy and the involvment of 25 countries, I wonder how it is going to develop. IMHO most of the better names will be picked up during the "Sunrise Period" before we ordinary citizens even get a chance. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | It will be April 2005 before this .eu rolls out to the general public, so loooong more way to go. It will be interesting to see how the sunrise wil play out. For me, I'd rather focus on what's available now since the pickings are still good on other namespaces. And slam home a couple of .eu waiting lists when the registrars become known. No worries if I don't get any .eu

![]() ![]() ![]() | To tell you the truth I don't know how sucessful .edu domains will be, however you never know what could turn out when released to the public. As long as the price is reasonable, it might have some success rate. |

![]() | yeah, I used a free pregistration service from a legitimate company EuroDNS.com - there's a queing sysytem if more than one person goes for the domain. Ive got a feeling that, eventually, the domains will be only available to us Europeans - sorry yanks!

![]() | I do not think I am interested in .eu domains, I live in the USA, and it sounds cool, but those .EU domains seem alot like the .US domains... never really caught on TOO MUCH. a domain with .us or .eu, both sound cool, but in all reality, who really likes .us or .eu domains, they are more of a novilty than a domain in my opinion. ![]() | I think it'll be huge! I mean, now with the new countries/members in the European union there are definately a lot of companies that have the whole EU as the market and what tld would be more suitable than .eu? ..but as mentioned before, probably all the best domains will go during the sunrise period.

Agree with Mitchell. And at the moment country TLD are very populair in Europe. I think in the first stage only big companies and domain squaters will register those EU domains. Small companies and individuals will stick with their country domains. How the future of EU in say 5 or 6 years will be is to see. It could grow but also become unpopulair. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=30624 An indicator could be the fact that the EU is not very popular with most of the EU citizens.

![]() | I do, however have a suggestion, I am a fairly new member of this community, and I feel warmly welcomed. I think that it is important that everyone that wants to make some money out of this, should just buy a domain or two, and sell um... and cash out. But, something that is important to remember is that you need to buy domains that someone would actually... WANT. I have no single idea on what it is like to sell domains, I have never done that. But, if they are worth money, but .eu domains, and sell um to people in europe. |
