domains .com .co.uk & google

Hi gang, hows everyone doing?

I got a question for use...

Does google rank a .com domain higher than a .co.uk domain regardless of the content that exists on the .co.uk domain?

I know .com is the top domain but does google care about this?

I wonder because i come up with little ideas for personal projects and often the .com exists but i just take the .co.uk (its cheaper) plus i like it

Cheers

I'm really not sure... I think if the .com is PR3 and .co.uk is PR6 then the .co.uk should still remain top?

For example: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...tk&btnG=Search

Search for 'tk'. The .tk domain comes above a .com.

I had a look at the search tech page, and thier other pages and never found anything about .com getting higher treatment...
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/cctld-discussion/29896-domains-com-co-uk-and-google.html

Im thinking its another one of those myths... but am really not sure..

Thanks for the reply

Probably just a Google myth, yeah. I tried searching on Google itself but couldn't find anything about it

According to this recent article linked below, google listing is not only unaffected by extension, but it now also picks up on words within a domain name. I guess this could have a dramatic effect on how domain names are valued.

Ive read stuff about that aswell, i have a few domains that are keyword rich.. but again this is a strange topic.. some say google looks at the domain others say it dont.. having a url like:

http://www.mydomain.com/domain-names-for-sale/domain-names-for-sale.html

is supposed to improve rankings about that am not sure either.. i have some urls like that but i think they get hits due to the content on the site rather than the domain...

Lycos looks at the domain but it doesnt take that much notice of it due to the domain in general reflects the name of the company and not always the content of the site.

Thanks for the answer, and the links...
