I've been to many forums, but only one is have more members than NamePros. Even that is because it's the official forum for the biggest IT and Electronic Mall in this region. LOL
Come up with a good idea. A uniques idea. Something new that doesnt have already 50 forums on the same topic. Offer incentives. And of course hire Jeff. Think mim wage is $50 an hour.
I aggree with most of that, I had always advertised my site/forum everywhere I got a chance to and it got me around 2 users a day, but then I decided I would code a few scripts for phpnuke as it was the cms im using. talked to a few people and before I know it I have made 2 unique modules for phpnuke and im on phpnuke.org's main page that first day I had 100 users signup LMAO, its been about a month since then and im upto 1500 nearly so the lesson is to be unique no one wants to see the same thing over and over again!
I think that a lot of it has to do with the domain name, subject, and timing of when to start it. I think them things can make a big difference. And of course putting tons and tons of time and effort into it.
Pretty much what everyone else has been saying. There are no shortcuts in becoming successful. It requires hard work and dedication. You can not build something over night, it just doesn't work that way if you plan on being around for a while. You need to find something that seperates you from all the other forums. Being unique is key to this vast online world. Nobody is going to remember you if you are just like everyone else. You will be lost at sea and no one will be able to find you. Good Luck!

what he is trying to say is: create free templates/ scripts / add ons / modulesetc.. for free and publish it every where you can :P
i mean like my example:
before this i was a pretty unknown member just posting and chatting
when the auctions began i was still some one unknown.
then i became the auctioneer. well then some people knew me
then i said i am going to create a system so its less stressy for the auctioneer. everyone was optimistic.
One Day later i introduced the system and voila! People started to know my qualities and what kind of person i am
Since that day ( i guess friday :P ) i am getting more familiar with people and more people are visiting the NPGEEK site because its becoming the official auction system for NP
Thats an original idea and every one loves it. Why ?
1: you dont have to PM and wait 10 minutes before your domain gets listed
2: the auctioneer only has to click and enter some info and submit
3: the auction can go very smoothly without interruptions
4: Seller can provide detailed info about the domain without PM ing and such
5: Buyer/Seller/Visitor can lookup the sold domain and view the information about it.
Thats original enough to be used.
So you have to think what people might need. Newbies need: free templates / free simple scripts / tutorials / help understanding why a girl doesnt fall in love with him
etc...
And you know how you can come up with ideas ? Visit an art gallery i already visited over 4 times this year and i must say it improves how i code and make the grafical design of a site.
LOL. I couldn't even think or find anything unique at the moment. So what I currently doing is doing the same thing but offering better service and more advantages for signing up. LOL. Hopefully it works.
Sorry to stroll slightly off-topic, but NPGeek is a real life-saver. Whoever coded that (I'm assuming it was you) should get a big pat on the back. I hope in the near future it could be integrated into namepros as an official auctioneering tool.
