Good Niche?

So, I'm not really knowledgeable about the "Wine" niche. Do you think it is a good niche to get into? Why/Why not? I'm really considering getting into it but I just don't know how much demand there is.

You can look for the trends for different keywords on google insights. It can tell you how much demand is out there for wine and how many people are looking for such stuff on internet.

Wine is by no means a niche, it is a massive industry with strict competition. What type of business are you familiar with? What type of business are you thinking about starting? (online, offline, store, service etc)

i remember a story of one guy who started a corporate blog for some multinational wine trading/producing firm (i believe from south africa) a few years back and he managed to turn around that giant company by increasing their sales dramaticaly in two years from staring his blog. i think he raised their sales by 200% or so just by educating the people about wines. i know this does not help you much but gives you a bit of optimism to start with. check the websites of the largest wine industry players to see what they are doing and whether you can addd value. i do not think it is an extremely profitable industry but growing. no idea about their internet promotion skills level.

Cancer Survivorship
"Good niche" can only be judged in context of your abilities to promote it.

Gary Vaynerchuck has made a fortune in wine business, as have others. Yes, there's demand, but if you don't know much about wine or the wine business, you're starting out at a big disadvantage.

For me finding a perfect niche is not following the trend but what do you love to do. For example if you love drinking beer or wine a perfect niche for you is wine. Also if you love exclusive and new gadgets technology niche is for you. Choose on what your personality loves not on the trend. Do what makes you happy.

Knowledge is tough

There are lots of wine snobs out there so your knowledge would be tested. Not sure how you'll make money from the traffic. Now if you want to develop some knowledge about wine and you're looking at this as a very long term project it would be a good idea. It'll take some work.

The Independent, a newspaper in the UK, regularly lists Google Insights trends in easy-to-understand articles. For example, here's Friday's article: Current Google Insights trends: Michelle Obama, Black Friday sales - Media, News - The Independent

I would say that "wine" in itself is not a niche.

Maybe you could do some research into areas like: "Italian wines", "Chianti wines", "wines with food"...look for more specific areas where there will be less competition.

I think that will do but not in any country, so you'd better find out if it's gonna be profitable there, if so, then why not?
