Ebay thread

hi,

i've been dabbling with ebay auctions for a while now. and instead of starting out with an official business or inventory, i'm just selling stuff around the house...

this isn't the first time i've played around with ebay.....they have changed so much since they first started.

the thing that i find hard is getting traffic/visitors to my auctions.

I know with ebay that it's just a numbers game More traffic = More clicks = More bids.

But does traffic just go to ebay or my auctions, or do i have to send traffic to my auctions?

anyway, i wanted to start this ebay thread so those that are in ebay or thinking about getting into ebay can bounce ideas off of one another on how to sell more and how to be sucess ful on ebay

When I used to sell more on ebay I would embed meta tags with many keywords into the auction.

Also by giving a long description with many keywords - this seems to attract more searches and bring more traffic.

It definitely will depend on the item, some items naturally will get hundreds of uniques (ipods, video games..) and others will struggle to break 50 total views in a week no matter how many words you embed in the auction.

I always just spend the extra buck or two to make my listing a premium listing. It creates a lot more traffic.

"Keyword padding" does in fact work ... But be careful They actually look for it and if you add too many or keywords not related to the item ... They will pull the auction(s)

a lot of people like myself are leaving ebay due to the large amount of negative changes they have made for sellers. please check ebays forums for the outraged sellers or somewhere like http://www.powersellersunite.com

I’ve played around on ebay a little bit some stuff sells great other stuff not so much.

The best luck I have is listing stuff so it ends on Sunday evening that is when I get the most views and the highest bids.

i think you mean "keyword spamming", and that is when you put unrelated words in your listing to get other people in.

for example, if you're selling a ps3, and you put psp, or xbox in the title, that is keyword spamming.

AHHH....Ebay, the good old days, when a listing cost 40 cents, your item had 20 to 30 bidders minimum, and that little model car you smashed up as a child, sells for $85!........ Oh, i remember the days.

Fast forward 2008, your listing costs $9.00, and all you seem to get is bold lettering! Paypal is forced apon you (here in AUS anyway). You get maybe 5/6 bidders if your lucky, and if you do sell something, theres the very real chance you get scammed by the buyer who of course takes the Paypal credit card option.

Wish i could be more positive about Ebay, but clearly greed and self interest won the day a while ago now. Am i bitter.....YES, do i have fond memories.......YES.
