Someone should start up an internet police website.

Parts of the site:
- Rules for the web
- Report A Site
- Report an IP
- Sercurity package for your site (cost $)
- An approved badge that people can place on their site
- A search engine (when you have enough sites)

Visitors will see your site and your approved sites as a secure environment. (something google will never have)

Have bragging rights of being the first police on the internet.

You can't establish rules for the web and then attempt to enforce them. And what would site of IP reporting do? You can report them to their host or ISP, but often times that does nothing, or serves only a temporary inconvenience.

How would you have a security package? That's just a matter of a webmaster not doing anything stupid, and configuring his server safely. The only way you could sell a security package would be for s specific program or script.

What would an approved badge do? Why would anybody applu for one?

And how is a search engine related to internet policing? Wouldn't that just waste bandwidth (searching) and space (catching)?

the problem is no one officially "owns" the internet and no specific one entity can set the rules, but we have spamcop.net already for anti-spamming.

actually there is a web police agency already i know cause i was an officer in it. you right about it being dificult controling what happens on the internet but basicly all they really do is investigate claims that people make and report to the local authorities. not much they can do with other countries that have very few laws. they also help people in crisis they get funded through government grants and such and the people that work for the agency are all voulenteers. they have been arround for some time now and they operate on there own server.

You must have been living in a cave or something cause we used to get hundreds a day in our chat room asking for assistancelots of people have heard of it. weeven got funding from the government also there will be many local web police agents poping up here and there. there out there they dont advertise cause there trying to catch child preditors and put a stop to the child porn industry. they dont want you to know about them.

I did that decades ago. There were only two rules
1.No one else can set start up an Internet Police Force
2.There are only two rules for the Internet which can never be changed.

I guess this pretty much kills any Internet Police force since I have as much authority to dictate what happens on a worldwide network of computers as anyone else.

You can't charge people for the police...imagine you were poor, so police wouldn't help you. That defeats the purpose of the police, since it's not very fair is it?

So in a way, softgroups is right, unless you can get some type of grant from the gov.
