Here's an idea for everyone here to have a think about if they want. If you think it wouldn't work just let me know and I'll carry on alone but here goes . . . . . .
I have built and run a domain name auction website which has taken a lot of time and money to get where it is today. We have quite a few members and auctions and I have had lots of features added along the way. However, I don't have much time to run it, promote it, love it etc

Instead of letting it crash and burn in the depths of the internet I want to open the doors and let other people in. I propose that is becomes run by 'the people', ie a community that can share in the site, control how it works, develop it and benefit from the income.
There are lots of people here who have domain name related sites which could benefit from being linked to it, for example, your whois search service can be built into our home page using php, or your drop catching service can be linked to some of our pages and so on...
By increasing the content and services and deciding on a committee what happens, we can all decide what happens to the site.
This will include things like how much we charge to list, whether we should use Mr XX's services, position of banner ads, auction durations and so on.
A vote will decide the future of each of the options.
I will set up a forum with password protected access for anyone who wants to join the commitee - with a rolling limit of 50 people who have to contribute in some way. When 1 leaves, another can join as voted by the commitee
So why would you help build my site for me, just for me to benefit?

Very good question. Well the answer is that I will run a rolling paypal account which takes all income from the website. Selected other committee members will have access to the account to to ensure that I do not take the money. ALL income from advertising, listings and anything else will be spent on promoting our site, and building it to be more useful and a better resource for domainers.
If the site ever gets sold (which it probably won't), 60% of the sale price will be divided between the commitee. So as well as being part of the service you can make some good cash out of it too.
If you are interested in getting on board within the next 4 weeks when the comittee will be set up please send me a pm and post here too. After 10 days I'll reassess the numbers and see what interest we have!
