How long do you test affiliate banners for?

I'm using trade doubler and displaying two UK orientated adverts only to the UK IP address that visit the site. Now, today I've had around 560 impressions on my two adverts and no click throughs.

How long would you test each advert out for, in regard to getting click throughs and then how long before you'd expect to see commisions?

One advert is for a clothing shop and the other for an video rental site. This is on an age guessing website. I will try swapping the adverts around. The website is guessmyage.net and if anyone has any suggests for affiliate schemes I should look into i'd be really, really interested!

it would depend on three things: amount of traffic; quality of traffic and; earning per click. seeing as your site gets a decent level of traffic, i'd give it a week maybe. i wouldn't suggest testing for more than a month though unless the return is really high.

I have seen your site and vistors need to only enter age or reg but most type of sites get clicks from links to other pages
I suggest to you to put in right sidebar adsense 2 ads try it instead of bottom

also the bottom ads showing without ads by google is this adsense ?

560 impressions is a whole lot more, you should get at least 1 or 3 clicks or more even since it's already targetted.
where does your traffic come from?
what are your domain referrers?
are some of the questions you need answered for yourself.

Always test for a minimum of one week on high traffic sites and one month on the others.

Is that a week for a click or a week to see a commision? I'm assuming the latter.

So a few more content pages? I had thought about writting a few "lower my age" "beauty" style articles for the site. These could also help with getting people off search engines.

I was thinking about removing the bottom one and having a side one actually. Good idea for point it out though! All the adverts are adsense, unless you're in the UK and see a burtons or lovefilm advert! I want to take the site away from adsense as I believe with a successful affiliate scheme the website can make a lot more money than it can from a few clicks every day.

Most of the traffic comes from referrals which I haven't paid for, such as emails people have sent their friends, the odd forum, weblog, online magazine, etc. A fair amount also comes in from search engines.

So you think I should look a little closer at the sites that link me and choose some of the affiliate schemes which would interest them? That's definitly possible as you see spikes in traffic from different websites when they first link the website so it wouldn't be hard to add a relevant affiliate scheme. or what

cheers so far guys!
