I ALWAYS contact end users by email. Phone is a waste of time. Sending emails is like planting seeds in the minds of end users. Even if at first they may not be interested, the idea or owning that keyword domain can GROW in their mind. They may then come back to that email later and fire you a reasonable offer. Phone calls make you seem more desperate; PLUS corporations are more likely to forget the details of phone calls; this cannot happen with a clear, short and to-the-point message/email. Send me an email to biggs.immo@bluewin.ch and I'll fire over the exact email I used.
Another email sent. Thanks

As I pick up lots of gems daily, I think I may build a blog/website with keyword domains for sale + great ones that are now available. Thoughts?

To Federer, JoshuaPz and all pros.

Based on your experience,
Did you find any difference in terms of sales, between building a mini site or leaving the domain parked?
Building a mini site is a waste of time or can increase the sales and/or the final price?

I've never built a mini-site. If the domains you grab target large numbers of existing end-users rather than some speculative end-user that might appear down the road, you don't need to build a mini-site to enhance the possibility of converting on your investment because that possibility is already so high.

However, if you've secured an exceptionally strong premium domain or a domain that targets a specific large corporation (e.g. is a product that corp's well-known for producing, like Toothpaste.com and Colgate-Palmolive), I would recommend building a mini-site -- or even a full-sized website -- and offering you potential end-user(s) advertising or lease options. If you're lucky, they'll come back with an offer to purchase your website outright.

Building a website on a premium domain name will also help it rank on for its keywords on Google, making the name more attractive in the eyes of potential end-users.

Alice / Lane / Com sold @ $445

This was picked up off a Nameflipper.com (JoshuaPz) list and sold less than 2 weeks after grabbing it. These lists really are worth the investment.

When reporting sales here or elsewhere, do you (yes, you!) first ask for permission from the buyer? Or do you report it unless otherwise asked not to?

Hmmm that's a good question...
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=83628

If you separate the domain ie domain-dot-com then the domain would be safe from spiders. So I don't think ppl would care in that situation.

Yea, I've done that with the sales I've reported here. I didn't really ask for permission, I just obfuscated the domain a bit to avoid spiders. I still worry about the savvier-than-normal-end-user that I may come across in the future... I haven't yet reported any sales to domaining blogs or sites such as DNSalePrice/NameBio.

I ask the buyer for permission. Some buyers are quite vocal about not reporting sales, and I honor their wishes. For the last sale I reported (a few posts previous to this one) the actual sale price was on the net (a sedo sale) before the buyer had a chance to respond. I didn't tell anybody, but the exact sales price just leaked out (my guess the leak came from sedo).

If I plan to do future business with them, I do not disclose. If its a one time sale from an end-user and there was no discussion of non-disclosure, then I have no problem with it.
