myspacelocal.com is a terrible domain that CRIES C&D. I'd be happy with a sale of $50 for it so you really got lucky

I realize that I practically gave it away, but I really need the money right now. I have two more in escrow now and will post the results when funds are received.

Nice one. 30x ROI from the looks of it.

Congrats on your ongoing sales success. Do you contact end users by phone or email? If it's email, would you care to share a sample inquiry letter? Thanks.

Thanks.

I ALWAYS contact end users by email. Phone is a waste of time. Sending emails is like planting seeds in the minds of end users. Even if at first they may not be interested, the idea or owning that keyword domain can GROW in their mind. They may then come back to that email later and fire you a reasonable offer. Phone calls make you seem more desperate; PLUS corporations are more likely to forget the details of phone calls; this cannot happen with a clear, short and to-the-point message/email. Send me an email to biggs.immo@bluewin.ch and I'll fire over the exact email I used.

While initiating contact by e-mail is time-effective and plants the seeds for potential interest, I have found that following up with a phone call to users who have already expressed interest (usually on the day of your must-respond-by deadline) dramatically increases the probability of a sale closing. A quality phone conversation allows potential customers to voice concerns -- such as "why should I buy a domain you picked up for $10?", or "what does owning a domain mean exactly?" -- and allows you to bring your full array of people skills to the table to help quell their uncertainly. Since most end-users you pitch two don't have the slightest clue about domainers or domaining, a phone conversation can help establish your credibility as an entrepreneurial, trustworthy, well-rounded person (as opposed to the stereotypical bottom-feeding cybersquatter). I find that many of my clients are more curious about me than the domain name I'm selling. All this applies more to small businesses than big corps, however, as members of the latter don't usually have the propensity for idle conversation.
