I get the main page, but when I click on a tab (Entertainment, Opinion, etc.), I get a blank page.

However, when I click on a story, I get the story and still on .tv, complete with added URL info.

So NOT a cloaked/masked domain.

Incorrect. That's the entire principle behind masking.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_Masking

Check out CNN.ORG and CNN.MOBI and others. Rather than point these domains to blank pages, they just point them to the standard CNN website.

This is a very common practice and in no way suggests that they intend to develop each and every one of these TLDs with unique content.

When I mask a domain, only the main URL shows in the browser box when I skip to another page (mainsite.tv NOT mainsite.tv/blurglesnorf)

CNN.tv does NOT do this. Is there another way to mask, where info right of the slash displays?

Okay, MicroGuy.

Good to know.

I thought perhaps that CNN.tv was just a mirror site, but that doesn't make much sense, does it? Double work...

Now if TV (the medium) is revolutionized and kills/diminishes cable TV, then, perhaps, a separate visual site will make sense.

My cable bill is over $100 month and my TV is not very good in terms of quality.

Getting quality TV via the net would be a happy day.

if .tv names ever start paying for themselves via ppc or something else thats when we'll DEFINITELY see the tide turn, at least as far as domainers perspective is concerned.

It's funny, but in 2000 after I registered, HeadlineNews.tv, CNN sent me a letter threatening to take legal action if I did not hand over the name. Once they realized it was not "trademarked", they offered to buy it, low ball offer. I told them to F*ck themselves!!! Even back then, they wanted .tv, so seeing this now brings back memories, but it's great to .tv.

For all the "naysayers" out there, .tv has been great, best ROI I have on any investment ever, to each there own, but I am seeing lot's of great things in .tv, many are NDA, but don't listen to the "naysayers", just buy good names, it's all about ROI!!!

They have the same info as .com and .org so looks like they mirrored their website under .tv.

Perhaps CNN set-up the .TV to counter (legally and otherwise) the CNN clone site cnn7.tv... which likely was launched because millions of Chinese are using satellite dishes to watch CNN (which is illegal in China).
pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/194755/illegal_satellite_tv_in_china_brings_cnn_to_the_ma sses.html
My hope is cnn.tv will be used for the "International Edition"

BTW, the company that set-up the CNN clone operates from 777tv.tv.... and kstv.tv is another major site in their media network.

And, also in that space is the Black Christian News Network at bcnn3.tv

Only if the story is hosted on a third level domain like blogs.cnn.com or money.cnn.com. Otherwise the .TV stays put.

This is true for many of the TLDs that CNN has routed into their main sites including CNN.ORG and CNN.MOBI. I don't think CNN intended for these to be setup like this. They probably intended for these to be plain vanilla forwards like the majority of their other registered TLDs (see CNN.NET).
