Thanks for raising your offer price, however, as I have stated earlier I cannot go lower then $2000. I was expecting you to cover paypal fee as well while transferring funds, however I can waive that off as an extra gesture. Leave about making profit, I'm just about covering the costs involved in this domain name acquisition from previous owner, so please do not expect me or ask about going lower then this price. (I used these lines just because I was sure that he's a potential buyer and had quite a few back n forth emails negotiating the price)

Not asking you to use this template, but suggesting you something similar can be sent as a response where you can sound reasonable while asking for a higher price for your gem.

The good point is that he replied to my email using his iPhone, so he could see the .mobi on his phone.

I have gotten so many "how much" replies with no success until recently.
What I do now is shoot HIGH....in your example $650 for whatever mobi domain you are trying to sell.
If the end user doesn't reply back after a few days then HE is not willing to pay that amount or not that much interested YET in your offer.
Most domains give up right about here...they won't reply or re engage..they would move on to another end user.I find it so hard to even find an end user that is willing to reply "how much?" in the first place.
What I would do next is wait another 3-4 days..until I re engage the same end user with something like:
"Dear Doe, I was wondering if you have any other questions about the domain xxx or if you have considered my offer. If you believe the asking price is over your budget I am open to offers. I would want you to be happy with your purchase in the end"

Believe it or not MOST end users will then reply and low ball me with offers like $50 -$150.
I would then reply and say I would accept $200 not lower, and that I would be willing to assist them step by step with domain transfer instructions(or some other incentive).
They would then reply OK, sounds like a deal, or something similar.

Yes you did not make $650, but in the end you made that end user happy and you MADE MONEY!
I always ask after the sale if I could use X end user as future domain sale reference, and they always say YES, Alex we would be glad too.
I have sold 5 domains in the last 2 weeks by doing 1 THING: " Re engaging in a polite manner the end user that initially replied "how much? "

NO I did not make $490 profit, but at least I got $195 profit in the end.

I used to flip maybe 4-5 domains every couple of month, recently I have been flipping 2/week.

Its a tricky name to find an end user but i will keep plugging it.

That's a nice muslim name, but you'll have to really try hard and work on it to get decent price IMO

I'm curious, when you guys get an interested buyer who offers to pay your asking price and wants to know how to proceed, do you:

1) Request payment first them let them know the domain will be transferred when payment is recieved, or;

2) Transfer the domain to them first, letting them know they owe you the money and wait for it to be paid?

I need to formulate a standard response to a couple of offers I have received.

I agree.
I usually tell the end user that I am paypal verified and that route is secure for both parties.
If they still question and make a fuss then I reply with references from other domains I sold to other end users in the past.
There was 1 domain we went with escrow because of the high amount(1500)
Other then that paypal has always worked for me.

When dealing with end-users for sales <$1k, I always offer to transfer the domain to them before receiving payment because I am usually the one approaching them to purchase the name instead of the other way around. With a few dozen sales, I've never had any issues. A few of those sales probably never would have gone through if I asked for payment up front. JoshuaPz practices the same method with the similar results.

Anything over $1k and I'd probably go through Escrow.com or something similar.

Allah is such a great name, this is a lifetime holding name to be honest, once this name is sold i doubt it will ever come up for sale again.

I just did send out a few lol, figured since sedo hasn't worked for me and no do the forums anymore. I haven't made a sale in a month or two and I am flat broke. I almost want to hire someone to sell the domains for me and just split the profits with them LOL

Just sold a few days back eletric/bill in the net extension for $150, USING identical replies.
I pitched $395, he didn't reply, then i re engaged and he agreed to $150.
TODAY I got another reply from another prospect enduser(dind;t reply my $395 offer for 1 week/I re engaged) he offered me $250, but I have already sold it.
Either way it was a 5.99 reg fee domain registered 6 or so months back ago.
