The horse that was beaten to death three days ago :-)

Most threads end this way. Everything has been said imho.

@promo - No need to delete anything. This thread is done with or without our posts.

@defaultuser - Well you might think so, but I was in the middle of a debate, but nothing happened after the move.

But anyway, it's too late now.

To be fair an anyone who has contributed to this thread is automatically subscribed to the thread. So a move would not have any consequence for them since they would still receive updates via Email or their userCP.

Maybe defaultuser is closer to the truth..

Maybe I'm completely out of whack, and I have no problem in you telling me so. but I don't really have a problem,as a marketing ploy, which describes a short domain as two words/syllable, as short rather than medium.
I don't think you will find a true definition of "short".

When it comes to two words I would switch from short to memorable and meaningful. To an end user memorable/meaningful is inherently valuable - short MIGHT have value.

I would consider FaceBook.com to be a short two worder.
I would consider PinkGuitar.com to be a medium two worder.
I would consider DiamondExchange.com to be a long two worder.

So I guess about 4-5 letters per word short.....words > 6 to be long and everything else medium

MarketingStrategies.com is long; however, it is not something you would forget. It is memorable and meaningful.

Prlku.com is short.
Plurk.com is memorable.

The 14 MG rule refers to one of MicroGuy's rules of domaining that I've read repeatedly. It's a decent generalization for general use - no domain should be more than 14 characters.

I don't think it's a hard and fast rule.
