![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | And now for something completely different. Some domains from the same scammers are put on sale at NameJet over and over again. Some are re-listed again because the winner did not want to pay for it others are listed again by, well, I don't know ![]() nchh.com was sold for $201 on 2010-01-22 to BuyDomains. Today nchh.com is again in the pre-release list. The curious thing is that the WHOIS info doesn't seem to to show that the domain ever changed hands. Given that nchh.org is taken which makes nchh.com yummy to BuyDomains portfolio it is odd that they are selling it already and, most of all, through namejet. So, did BuyDomains refused to pay for the domain? In what grounds? By frequent and dishonest practices from the seller? And if so how can the scammers continue to be allowed to list their crap almost every day? food for thoughts. regards, tonecas |

![]() | hi, i want to share my experience too, few days ago , i registered a domain with namejet for backorder which was about to expire, they sent me message that this domain is available thru auction, i put my bid ( 69 usd ) after few days i got confirmation that i won the bid and then they charged my credict card also for the bid amount and sent me confirmation that they will transfer this domain to my name and will inform in few days time. i was happy. but after few days they sent me mail that they are not able to give me this name because i need to send them some information, which i have to send within 3 days. i sent the information required by them immediately but instead of registering that domain under my name, they disabled my account and never wrote anything to me. now they have sold this domain to someone else. can anybody guide what can i do and where to complain? i have their confirmation letter and credit card statement which is showing that they charged bill amount from that card. thanks in advance. suresh |

![]() | Hey guys, I really need your help with understanding this scam and what to avoid with bidding. I'm pretty new to this. I was currently in an auction which has just ended and with 20 minutes left, I did a Google search, found this thread and stopped bidding. I basically lost both auctions right now and I'll kick myself in the ass if I did the wrong thing. Basically, I submitted bids on both of these domains in it's pre-release stage. One of the domains had 2 other bidders, the other had 12 other bidders so it went into an auction state. I got outbid 12 hours before the auction ended. Another weird thing that I noticed was that no one placed any bids in the last minutes..and these are valid PR3 and PR4 domains. Here is the weird thing I noticed. When I checked the expiration dates...both of them changed from May 2011 to 2012. I don't remember what the whois information was on both of them, but right now they're "Whois Privacy Protection Service, Inc". My question is, if I won this auction, the domain wouldn't have been mine, correct? Due to the expiration date...does this indicate that the original owner renewed the domain? Would this auction technically be considered a backorder auction? Usually, when I check the whois of a domain, it shows "Reactivation Period". I can also supply the domains if it helps you guys answer.. Any help understanding this would be appreciated. Thanks |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | the "Reactivation Period" is a new development specically to Enom. Usually that means that the domains are really expired - but does not mean that the owner doesn't renew the domain before the auction. the whois changes on the beginning of the auction as the Registrar "confirms" the domain extension for another year, so you will see the expiration date going to 2012. one of the scams described on this thread is to put a domain that it is not expired (or it is expired but did not went through the expiration cicle before being put to a pre-release auction) place some fake bids on them to get attention to the domains and then removing the bids in the last minute(s) of the pre-auction deadline or not paying for the domain auction and leave the domain to the next high bidder on the line. the big source of scammers seems to come from Fabulous and Enom, Enom that has a long track record of not doing anything against domain abuse by owners in the most various forms. so you should be wary of domains coming from them and check the current WHOIS and history. regards, tonecas |

![]() | OK, So basically, I should be kicking myself in the ass right now lol. These two names which I was looking at, was in Pre-Release stages with NameJet. They were not renewed and the expiry was May 2011. None of the bids were removed on these two names. I'm not sure if you guys can check, but one of the names was musclezine.net. Was this valid? So if I see names from enom in reactivation period, I should investigate these further? I'm still not sure what to validate in the whois..can you guys show me an example of a domain from one of these scammers and a valid domain in auction at namejet? Would be GREATLY appreciated..thanks so much |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi ddzc, It seems a valid sale. The domain had privacy Whois but seems to have change hands. You need to have access to historical WHOIS to see who owns the domain because the scammers, sometimes with the collaboration of registrars, hide the owner in the last days before auction. You should also know that more and more domains are being sold by domainers on NameJet like they were expired domains. You should check also the bidders alias that are on these auction to see if anyone looks suspicious, like a new bidder placing high bets. regards, tonecas |

| Senior Member ![]() | I was watching a pre-release auction which ended a couple of days ago. Whilst listed as a pre-release, the domain was presumably being sold by a private seller as the whois showed the domain renewed to May 2012. The whois was obfuscated so it wasn't possible to see who the seller was. I watched the auction right through to the end. There was no reserve and it sold for $281. I just checked reports and the auction was cancelled and the whois now shows BuyDomains as the registrant! Sure seems fishy to me and totally unfair to the winning bidder, as well as wasting everyones time.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi WORDSWORTH, that domain is from one of the scammers in this thread. i have checked the auction and in the details it shows as auction cancelled but the domain is now in BuyDomains hands which was the bidder who won the domain. regards, tonecas ---------- Post added at 11:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:29 PM ---------- it seems that there is a glitch in NameJet. all closed auctions are appearing as cancelled in the details. regards, tonecas
