![]() | If you are serious about long-term commitment, just get your own hosting. Most of the free ones will serve ads, having downtime issue (obviously something which you can't complain) while some I heard escape with your scripts. Another thing which you can do is to call up a friend who might still have space left in their account and ask whether they might be generous enough to let you host it there. After all, what harm can 1 or 2 pages do.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Google Sites is a nice stable service but does not provide you much freedom. You can setup a site based on some Google templates which are not flexible at all and they do not provide DB access etc. so if you want just a bit more than a simple site based on a template then Google Sites is not the way to go. They as well add a bunch of links to all pages such as "Powered by Google" Terms etc. Would be amazing if Google Sites would allow costume HTML and FTP access. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | All you get with google apps domain registration is a redirect to 2 different hosting companies. Lots of good companies supply hosting with a domain purchase nowadays. Saying free hosting is not good is totally false. You can buy a hosting plan to have more advanced features. |

![]() | Do you have spare 10$? Then check out the more popular hosting providers as hostinggator or justhost, they offer top notch quality service. Get your basic package and start making some sites. Remeber that by saving 10$ per month on "free" hosting you`ll get more headaches. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have tried two free hosts: everyoneweb.net and webs.com I found both quite good, everyoneweb.net also offers to make backups which is good because if the service would cease operations someday your site is back-upped and can be uploaded and continued elsewhere without having to start from scratch again. Everyoneweb is an exceptional case as most free hosts don't offer back-up options, which is one of the reasons why I prefer paid hosting. Webs.com is a very well-managed company and won't go out of business anytime soon, be sure of that. Building a site there is very user friendly, to the extent I'd even host a site here using their paid plan if their paid plan would allow back-ups. Since it seems they don't offer backups even for paid users (I could be wrong but never saw this option in their FAQs) I would abstain from paying for a site there. I would consider it definitely if back-ups for paid users are done. EveryoneWeb and Webs.com are both good IMO, but nonetheless I'd go for paid hosting if the site is a very serious one which I plan to maintain for a really long time. For temporary sites, small side projects or hobbyist sites, the above two free hosts both get my approval. I've seen plenty of other free hosts but some went out of business or are very non-user friendly. Geocities used to be good but they ceased operations (which surprised me a lot given Yahoo's financial power to maintain a free hosting service without any problems) ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=616583 ---------- Post added at 10:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:52 PM ---------- PS : Freehostia.com looks decent, but is this company expected to survive long term? Never heard of them, have they got a good financial backing? And especially: do they offer back-up options? Free hosting is a turn-off for me per definition unless they allow to make backups of your site so that, if things go wrong with the host, you can get your site continued elsewhere without needing to start from zero again. |

![]() | Web hosting isn't something you tend to think about every day. It's something you purchase when you first get an idea for a site, you setup and then hopefully forget. It is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their own website accessible via the World Wide Web.

![]() | If you can afford ads on your site then go with free hosting. Free hosting have many other restrictions as well like limited CPU/RAM usage. Its better to pay a small amount to get best services and features. Try shopaserver.com , they have a great package in just few bucks thats fits your budget. |

I've tried other free hosts like x10hosting and during peak periods the servers grind to a halt. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=616583 So yeah Frihost is well worth it, especially given what you want it for. They've been around for a while too, so you know they're not gonna disappear any time soon. | ||||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=616583 Create a www domain that matches your domain name at the google site and then change the c name record at your registry. Google is fine for a basic web site. I have not tried making a flash site with them yet. Here is one I made 2 days ago at google after buying the domain at HOSTNHUB. Note you can only have one c record with some hosts. 5starcruiseship << built at google sites. Domain bought at HOSTNHUB Google does not allow a "naked " domain c record change for their sites. That is why you have to add the www domain to the google site first. Or use their long url. You can have up to 5 different names for your site at google. If I have confused you I would not be surprised. lol All the info is in their help files. The "manage site" link gives you access to add the site verification and analytics. You can do a lot more to the templates also I found. You can revamp the basic templates they supply. Change colors and fonts. Also add back ground pics etc. rvspy is another google site where I added my own background pics for example. These are not fancy sites but it helps give your domain ranking. My seo score on one of the sites I posted here is 97% Tip. If you run out of free hosting then simply add another account. Any rep welcome. |
