Smile Google's G.CO

IF Google actually made a website named G.CO and not just url forward to Google.com, then perhaps we might have a start of a ".CO revolution"

That would never happen. Google has a very strict brand policy.

Besides you can just type in the URL to learn their plans for it..

"About g.co

You’ve arrived at this page because you typed or linked to “g.co”, Google’s official URL shortcut just for Google websites.

Whenever you see a short “g.co” link, you can trust that it will always take you to a Google product or service.

We also have a public URL shortener at goo.gl. You can use this to shorten up URLs across the web."

Yet another sale to the same buyer.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=573976
Almost every high dollar sale in recent memory has been to the same buyer.

Looking at NameBio.com .CO sales over $10K, the same buyer has bought -

Women.co - $25K
Finance.co - $45K
Automotive.co - $10K
Ski.co - $15K
Cigar.co - $15K
Internet.co - $40K
Whiskey.co - $15K
Business.co - $80K
Tequila.co - $14,500

and more...

It really skews the market when it is the same buyer buying all these premium domains.

That's right, it must be someone with deep pockets. He apparently has the resources to buy premium domains in any extension, so I'm kinda surprised he didn't concentrate on .com

True. "He" or "it" certainly has deep pockets. Looking at the amounts spent thus far by this "person", he/it could have purchased awesome .COMs and could expect to resell (if he/it shopped smartly). But now he/it buys .CO domains at end-user prices??? Why buy all these at high prices? For development?
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=573976

I see the registry has not scheduled cyber.co for release as yet. I have CYB.CO. Think cyb.co might derive it's value from the sales price of cyber.co once it's released and sold? I only saw this recently and it got me thinking. Any opinions appreciated.

Hey everybody.. haven't posted in a while...

.. but some good news to anybody that cares about actually develping your dot co names

I bought my 'DesignCompany.co' in the landrush - this is a few days more than a year ago to the day

.. i'm presently ranking with a PR3
and honestly, very little link building

not the biggest most important news of all time, but i'm obviously pleased and this is also very promising for future development.

I've posted a breakdown of how .CO websites are being used on
http://www.hosterstats.com/blog/2011...-co-july-2011/

The figures are based on the web survey that I ran on 22-23 of July. At the moment, I'm checking some drops and it appears that .CO might be doing somewhat better than expected on renewals. Based on the figures, it is looking like about 34K of the domains/websites in the survey could be moving into supension phase. (Should have a more accurate figure later this morning.)

There is a .co that I want that so far has not been renewed by the current owner. Providing that person lets it drop what is the best process for back ordering this domain.

The expiration date is July 20,2011

The name was originally registered at Network Solutions if that matters at all.

Thank you in advance

Well the .co registry is supposed to be implementing a Waiting List sevice where one reservation per dropping domain will be accepted through accredited registrars. It might be worth applying on all .co registrars. This is meant to all start on 15th August from what I remember.

The process seems very confusing.

If the domain is backordered through (1) accredited registrar it will not be available on any others? Or is it (1) per registrar.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=573976

Will there be a drop list released?

It is puzzling that .CO would not auction the competitive domains off and let the free market determine the value.

An exclusive backorder system like that could really be open to front running.

That is putting it mildly.

Going from the post on thedomains.com, it is first come, first served and the first to back order will shut out all other applications.

Quote:

This is the big question. Again going on thedomains.com information, the droplist might be circulated to the registrars.

Quote:

Well they have at least 3559 premium domains that have not yet been released so they may just drip feed these into the market.

Yep. But it also reduces some of the risk by moving the domains from the old registrars' nameservers to ones controlled by the .co registry. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.

The problem here is if you have an exclusive backorder system, anyone with inside information could abuse it.

There is an opportunity for the registry, registrars, insiders, etc. to cherry pick domains before they are available to the general public, and be awarded them without any competition.
