I think he meant pre-reg fee: $30
priority landrush: $299.99 ($10.00 application fee + $289.99 refundable registration fee)

My friend's company apparently got their .CO global sunrise registration. The whois is showing his company and name, so no auction or extra hoops to jump through.

And what's the pattern?

Basically the pattern I've noticed is that early cctld's (co.in, com.ar,) of which major search engines support (ex. Google)usually experience more success with substantial end user sales as opposed to the LATER released extension (.CO),(.AR)
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=573976

Now that doesn't mean that .CO will not have a measure of success as I'm investing in two really good ones. But, there are only probably a few of these type of domains that will reach the six-figure ballpark.

Thanks,

If it carries the right alliteration, (company ~ .co) possibly!

How Did Twitter get T.co ?

I have pre-registered over 10 .co domains but the .co systems still allows other to pre-register the same domains. But if I try to pre-register domains like t.co or love.co those say they are taken... why is this (my names are still availible even thought I have paid a fee for them but others are not) This seems very unfair. How can twitter already own t.co when the .co have not been made availible yet?

Companies like twitter, google, yahoo already have their name reserved before the purchase of .co became available. That is the advantage of having a world wide company. You know that twitter.com is owned by google

Seems like another TLD pyramid scheme to me. As someone mentioned above I can see people adding the missing "m" becuase it looks "wrong"...

Say, when I checked on Godaddy it looks like if you pay $299 then you have to keep paying that per year or does the price drop to the normally overpriced $29?

That is a confusing message from Godaddy. I think they just charged you $10 (to make up for the fact that they didn't get their part of the $299).

I used DomainMonster, too. Not for Landrush, though, so I'll have to wait until the 20th to find out. I'm really curious about what will happen. Will we end up with 10% of what we ordered? 1%? I know .CO will take some time to catch on and I'm trying not to get excited prematurely...

I know landrushes often don't turn out well, but I can't help the fact that I'm counting down until Tuesday.

I couldn't believe some of the names that were still available (at least with DM), which at least didn't have landrush applications. I spent about 3 hours last week researching names, and another 3 hours this afternoon. Of course, there's a chance I won't end up with any of them, but I'm crossing my fingers.

If you preorder from a place such as GoDaddy or Domain Monster, do they take the money from you, and if they don't get it, they put the money back (which takes time to get back)? Or do they just not charge you anything until they fetched it up? Thanks
